Illamasqua Perfect Pout Gift Set + Swatches

Hi loves! Today I have an exciting post for you all, a little treasure of a set that made me so happy when it landed on my doorstep. I’ve been itching to get my hands on to the products but wanted to take pictures for the blog first so I had to restrain myself. Hashtag blogger problems. However I have finally got round to photographing it, I got a little trigger happy and took lots of pictures for you all. Without much further ado I introduce you to the perfect sixsome that is the Illamasqua Perfect Pout Gift Set.

How beautiful do they look? I adore the packaging of the set, it looks really fancy and high end I like to think. Now as you have probably guessed from the picture above I actually won this set as part of a competition Illamasqua were running for the Christmas season. I don’t really ever win anything so I was so happy to see my makeup entry was picked yay! Plus a little side note, how pretty is that handwriting?

Now what is included in the set? The set contains six lipsticks covering a variety of different colours, and the set retails for £60 saving you a total of £40. That works out to be a tenner a lipstick which I think is a great deal! The lipsticks are all highly pigmented and five of the lipsticks are available to buy individually. Isis, a beautiful pink red, is exclusive to this set meaning you can’t get it anywhere else. Now let’s get on to the swatches.

The first three shades I thought I should share with you are the ones I am most comfortable wearing. The first colour is ESP, a vivid purple with a blue frost finish to it. I know vivid purple sounds scary but for some crazy reason I’ve just embraced the boldness of it and actually feel comfortable wearing it. Next we have the exclusive shade Isis, a pretty red pink with a creamy moisturising finish to it. I am ridiculously used to a bold red lip usually via MAC Ruby Woo however this shade seems the perfect shade to tone that look down a bit. I don’t have a toned down yet still noticeable red in my collection and this shade fills that void. The third shade is Scandal, a coral with warm pink undertones to it. I love this shade, it flatters my tan olive complexion and I bet it is going to be a staple in the warmer seasons (please hurry up Summer ’14)

Now the next three shades are what I would call daring for me, I shy away from pastel, nude, light colours and would typically never pick up those shades for myself but I think these colours will break away that shyness. Firstly we have Fable, a bright rose pink, and bright it is! This is so pigmented, one coat and its opaque. I’m thinking of pairing it with a dark smokey eye. Then we have Overbright coral pink, this also has a moisturising finish to it. This shade was a little bit tricker for me as the colour pay off was a little weaker however I still think I would get good use out of it for when I want a coral flush of colour on my lips. Finally, last but not least, we have Plunge, a beautiful bright mauve pink which I have surprisingly fallen in love with. It is so bold, contrast ridiculously against my tanned skin tone and super opaque and pigmented. I wouldn’t say it suits me, it’s a very barbie pink, however I think with the right level of confidence I could rock it.

You can get hold of the set here or at Illamasqua stockists.
I thought I would leave you with a makeup look I created using ESP, told you I was embracing that vivid purple! I love how Illamasqua break makeup boundaries and explore the unconventional side. If I hadn’t won this set I think it would’ve taken a few more years before considering a bright purple lip but look at me now, I’m already planning on using that Barbie pink Plunge for my next look!

I hope you enjoyed today’s post, I definitely enjoyed taking pictures of the set. Oh I almost forget, sorry if my lips look dry towards the end, lots of lip swatches tends to do that to you! Have a great day my loves, Tanzina x

Gift Idea: BareMinerals The Mix Master Convertible Eyeshadow Palette

Hi loves, I’m back today with another gift idea post in preparation for this month’s celebrations. I cannot comprehend how we are at the end of 2013 and 2014 is a month away. How? The gift idea I am featuring today is a rather unique palette, unlike anything I’ve come across and will be great to have for those who like touching up on their makeup through out the night.

BareMinerals The Mix Master Convertible Eyeshadow Palette

BareMinerals The Mix Master Convertible Eyeshadow Palette

This baby is the BareMinerals The Mix Master Convertible Eyeshadow Palette, phew that is a long title! This is a very unique palette in the sense that is is literally two palettes in one. Firstly all the twelve shadows pop out, so you can arrange them in an order to suit you. You have twelve different types of shadows, a mix of base, crease and liner shades though of course you are free to use them as you like. There is a great mix of colours from neutrals to full out smokey shades, and yes there aren’t any vivid daring colours like a bright pop of yellow but really, how many people use those shades on a daily basis. This palette is for someone who would want a palette where they can use every single shade. Hey, don’t think I wouldn’t rock a bright eye everyday, for years I did! But what floats my boat doesn’t work for everyone.

The packaging is gorgeous, its sleek and very compact so travelling with it is easy. It’s black with a gem like print on it and sturdy too. Now remember I said it is literally two palettes in one? Now you know what I mean. The inner section of the palette slides out to make a smaller compact, with a trio of shades that you can pick and mix! How clever is that? This really is perfect for travelling and times when you know you’d want the option of a touch up. You also get a mirror inside and a brush which I am pleased to say is actually a very nice brush and not one of those useless ones you will never use. It has a flat liner brush on one side and a very nice fluffy tapered crease brush on the other.

Now lets get swatching.

BareMinerals The Mix Master Convertible Eyeshadow Palette swatches

The first six are Maven (blackened navy), Panorama (charcoal), Perspective (deep espresso), Embellish (glittery pewter), Day Dream (nude creme) and Stealth (apricot chiffon). As you can see all the shades are creamy, pigmented and smooth. I’ve already been creating makeup looks with this palette and the shadows are so easy to work with. Now on to the next six shades.

BareMinerals The Mix Master Convertible Eyeshadow Palette

Here we have In Vogue (matte smoky purple), Custom Made (pink quartz pearl), Hot Commodity (metallic medium copper), Max Volume (smoky jade), Muse (pink frost) and Mixologist (champagne sheen). I think I love Day Dream the most, it is such a perfect pigmented nude shade, oh and also Embellish because I am a sucker for a unique shimmery shade. Okay lets just make it a trio, my third favourite is Hot Commodity, a gorgeous shade that glides on like butter – what is there not to love?

BareMinerals The Mix Master Convertible Eyeshadow Palette

This palette is definitely a keeper in my opinion, it wouldn’t be appearing here if it wasn’t! It’s perfect for any beauty enthusiast really, from the advanced beauty lover to those who are newly introduced to this addictive world. Of course you could be greedy and just keep it for yourself ! This palette retails for £45.00 and has a value of £87.00 so you are saving quite a few pennies there.  You can pick it up at any Bareminerals stockist or here on their site. Don’t forget to use code ‘XMAS1’ at checkout for free delivery.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post, if you did then make sure you keep a look out for my next post which may be tomorrow or a few days after. I have created a smokey green makeup look using this palette to share with you all so stay tuned to see what I used to achieve it. Until next time lovelies, have a great day

Gift Idea: Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette with Swatches

Today I thought I would do the first of my Christmas gift ideas post and this one features a very pretty palette. Some of you may already now I was lusting after the Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette, and with the aid of a few well placed hints and strategic nudges it found its way to my graduation presents pile. Despite the heavy hint dropping I was still really surprised to be gifted this and very relieved that they didn’t mix it up with Vice 1 which I already have! Today I am opening it up, swatching and sharing my thoughts on it.

Now firstly the packaging, I loved everything about the last Vice palette except the rubbery NARS-esque finish to it and was really happy to see this one lacked that finish. Other than that it is exactly the same, it opens with the same swish motion, comes with the same duo ended brush and is equipped with the huge mirror. The outside packaging is a plastic purple marble style look with a glitzy UD symbol on it. I love how sleek it is, not bulky at all and not too heavy either. Packaging wise, it is 5 stars from me.

urban decay vice 2

urban decay vice 2 eyeshadows

Now on to the eyeshadows themselves, in my opinion Urban Decay have one of the very best eyeshadow formula. They are so creamy, pigmented and really easy to blend. Individually buying the shadows can get pricey which why I almost always pick up the palettes as it works out to be better value for money. This palette retails for £42.00 which works out to be £2.1 per shadow – in my eyes a bargain! The palette contains 20 exclusive shades made up of mattes, shimmers and metallics. Lets get swatching!

urban decay vice 2 swatches

The first row is mostly made up of neutral shades, and probably the row which will get the most wear from me.  We have Dope (warm champagne satin), Toxic (metallic copper-pink shimmer w/tonal micro-glitter), Habit (light nude matte), Ambush (metallic brown satin) and Rewind (medium brown matte). The matte shades are so creamy, and I always whoop when I see a matte shade in an UD palette. I’m realy looking forward to working with Toxic as pinks like that work well with brown eyes.

urban decay vice 2 swatch

Next row up contains more shimmery gem stones shades, some with glitter and some not. Radar (metallic brown shimmer w/iridescent micro-glitter), Damaged (bright metallic emerald shimmer), Voodoo (metallic purple shimmer w/iridescent purple micro-glitter), Betrayal (bright purple satin w/blue shift) and Derailed (medium metallic taupey-brown). I love this row also, the emerald green shade is stunning and I can see myself using quite a bit on Asian makeup clients. One of my favourite shades is in this row, can you guess which?

Urban decay vice 2 swatches

The pigmentation on this row didn’t show up too well on camera, however they are just as rich as the others. We have Prank (deep navy matte w/turquoise floating pearl), Madness (bright metallic blue shimmer w/blue micro-glitter), Strike (antique gold shimmer w/silver micro-glitter), Stash (deep olive green shimmer w/iridescent micro-sparkle), Poison (charcoal satin). Another one of my favourite shades is in this row but I wish I included Madness in to my favourites now. It’s such a beautiful blue.

Now the final row. This row has some absolute beauties and a bit of a miss too. We have Smokeout (dark taupey-black satin), Lovesick (black matte w/iridescent micro-glitter), Shellshock (bright metallic silver), Coax (medium metallic pink w/golden iridescent micro-sparkle), X-Rated (baby pink satin). I love some of the colours here a lot however was slightly dissapointed in Lovesick as its not as pigmented as the rest. I guess for a less strong smokey eye this would work well, hey every cloud has a silver lining!

urban decay vice 2 swatches

I thought I would limit myself to four favourites, in my head I was thinking if I had to make a quad what colours would I choose? I chose the shades due to their uniqueness, these four shades were unlike anything I had come across before. First up the beautiful gemstone shade Betrayal, it’s multifaced with a duotone finish, I adore it. Next is Shellshock which is almost like liquid silver, it’s so opaque and creamy and just glides like butter. The same thing can be said for Coax, the finish for both of these are very similar and I cannot wait to create looks with it. And finally Prank – the camera does not do this shade justice. It’s a deep navy matte with turquoise shimmer running through it, so rich, so pigmented and just beautiful. Sigh.

The palette retails for £42.00 and it is limited edition so if you wanted to bag it or yourself or as a gift I would highly recommend picking it up as soon as possible. You can find it here at Debenhams online.

That is it for today’s post, it is a picture heavy one but with a palette this beautiful it deserves as many pictures taken of it as possible! I am an extremely happy bunny to receive this beauty, it definitely has a safe happy home with me and I will be bringing you looks I create with this as soon as I can. GOSH Velvet Touch Lip Liners

Lip liners are a beauty-must for me. I think 90% of my lip application makes use of a liner or two and I can no longer phantom not having them readily available in my makeup stash. Now finding a good liner is at times tricky, they can sometimes be a bit too dry and tug or too creamy and slip… it’s a bit like Goldilocks, it has to be just right to win praise from me. So without much further ado let me introduce you to my latest find.

GOSH velvet touch lip liners

GOSH have added four colours to their Velvet Touch Lip Liner collection and I got the chance to play with three of them, I think I knew before swatching that they were going to be a fall in love kinda product for me. Reason being is because I adore their Velvet Touch Eye Liners, so I thought the lip offerings would be just as good. I’m happy to announce I was right. The colours I have in my stash are Antique Rose, Cardinal Red and Flirty Orange. I thought I’d show you how they translate on the lips before I start talking more in depth about the pencils.

So now that you’ve had that much desired look at a close up of my lips, let’s get on to talking out the product. I found to be the perfect matte, it’s soft yet really intense when it comes to colour payoff and the waterproof aspect made the product stay on the lips really well. I love a soft liner which can help me shape my lips well before lipstick or gloss application and this was perfect for that. The liner also has Vitamin E and Jojoba extracts to help keep the lips kissable – always a plus. I would say keep the lips moisturised because I’ve definitely learnt the hard way that dry lips and matte products do not go.

The lip pencils can be picked up and Superdrug for just £4.99, a really affordable price. Antique Rose has quickly become my favourite, it is perfect for the pink nude lips I’ve recently been sporting.. Liner and a slick of nude gloss and I’m ready to go. Hope you are all having a great day and not recovering from a mean cold like me! Tanzina x

Swatches: Avon Ultra Colour Lip Crayon

Hi my loves, I hope time has been treating you well. I’ve decided to add like a new series of post to the blog – a swatches series. Basically it is exactly what it says on the tin, a series of post where I swatch products. Not necessarily a review, more an overview of the products and shades. I hope you enjoy them and if you do I shall carry on with more swatches!

Avon Ultra Colour Lip Crayon

So on to the post! My product of choice is a product that is just about to launch over at Avon, and it’s a new addition to their lip range. We all know how much of a hit lip crayons have become in the beauty world and it only makes sense that Avon tap into that ever growing market. I like lip crayons, they are super easy to apply and can easily be thrown into your bag for travel. The Avon range is the Ultra Colour Lip Crayon with intense pigment and colour payoff. It definitely isn’t the shy balm tint types and I’m very happy to see that. The crayons contain  vitamin E and shea butter to help the product glide on smoothly. I find that the crayons contains a lot of glitter so anyone who dislikes glitter stay well away but those who don’t mind, this will be up your street.

The crayons come in 6 shades and today I have 4 to share with you all.

The first of the four I have today is called Risque Rose. It’s like a nude pink with a shimmer running  through it. Bare in mind that the pictures are taken in indoor lighting and may translate slightly different in outdoor daylight.

Avon Ultra Colour Lip Crayon Fresh Fuschia

The next colour is Fresh Fuschia which is a berry like pink, again with a shimmer running through it. All of these colours can be toned down by being applied in a dabbing motion.

Now we have a colour called Carefree Coral, a bright coral number that is just a few shades away from fluorescent. Again this too has a shimmer running through it.

Finally a vivid hot pink called Showstopper Pink. This really is a bright pink so the name is well suited, and surprise surprise it’s my favourite. I do love a bright set of lips and this truly delivers on that front. Again it has a glitter running through it which is slightly bothersome to remove however I do like the effect.

The crayons also come in two more colours – Reddy For Me and Notice Me Nude. You can pick this up from your Avon representative or their online shop when it launches for £7.50. I couldn’t spot it on the online store but I am guessing it should be out in a matter of days. I hope you enjoyed today’s post lovelies and speak to you soon! Tanzina x
