Birthday Perfume: Elizabeth Arden Untold Absolu Review

Hi loves, happy Sunday! Recently my birthday just passed (I’m 24 now!) and I decided to grab a new perfume so I have a perfume that will always spark memories of my 24th birthday. Perfumes are very effective in triggering memories, and since I was going to create some beautiful memories I wanted a perfume that would always remind me of them. I thought I would type up a quick post on the perfume I chose, which was Elizabeth Arden Untold Absolu

Untold Absolu is a deeper sensual take on Elizabeth Arden’s Untold perfume, and as it was a more stronger perfume it was one I automatically gravitated towards. My perfume taste definitely favors headier perfumes, and this one triggered images of a glamorous evening to me. It smells quite dark, and intoxicating and helps me conjure up images of a mysterious woman to me so it definitely is quite a sexy scent. I tried quite a few perfumes before deciding which one I wanted to wear for my birthday and this was one I repeatedly went back to smell.

Elizabeth Arden Untold Absolu Review

Looking at the basic notes of the perfume there was nothing in there which were my favourite notes so I couldn’t figure out why it appealed to me so much but when I looked further into the perfume it all made sense. The brief description of the perfume told me that it had floral absolutes, red plum and blackberry accepts with an amber base. Those were notes I was not previously familiar with, as they didn’t appear in my favourite perfumes so I wanted know exactly what other notes were in the perfume. This is what I discovered:

Top: Red Plum, Ginger Extract LMR, Black Raspberry, Italian Bergamot
Mid: Egyptian Jasmine Absolute LMR, Rose Water Essential LMR, French Narcissus Absolute LMR
Base: Brazilian Tonka Absolute, Cashmere Woods, Tahitian Vanilla Bourbon Absolute, Benzoin Resinoid

If you know my favourite perfumes, you’d know anything with Jasmine might as well have my name on it. I adore Jasmine especially combined with Rose. I also adore woody perfumes and I love the depth Cashmere Woods has added to this perfume. I haven’t come across another perfume that smells similar to this, and as it isn’t as mainstream as my favourite Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, so I am less likely to bump into someone wearing the same perfume as me. I love wearing this perfume in the evening as it is definitely more of an evening fragrance and I love how it lingers the next day if I sprayed it on my coat or scarf the night before.

The size I have is a 30ml which I think is the perfect size to trial a perfume and also chuck in your bag and carry around. I love the shape of the perfume bottle, if a bottle is aesthetically pleasing it is always a plus! I usually carry perfumes in my Travalo decanter however I do feel much more glamorous taking out a pretty bottle when refreshing my perfume. I’m really glad I ended up choosing this perfume to be my birthday scent, although I suspect it will quickly become my 2015 scent. I look forward to spraying it in the future and bringing back special memories that I’ll create this year. If you’d like to find out what the fuss is all about, you can find this perfume at your local Elizabeth Arden counter. Or you could pick it up here for £40.

I hop you enjoyed this post, let me know what your favourites are. Speak to you soon, Tanzina x

Recent Perfume Additions featuring DIOR and Juicy Couture

Hi loves, hope you are okay. Today’s post as you have guessed is about the perfumes in my life.. No, it isn’t a perfume collection post (though I do need to do one of those!), instead it is about the recent additions to my perfume collections. As some of you may know, I recently turned 23 and for my birthday I gained a couple of lovely scents to add to my stash.

My perfume collection has grown and grown, my loved ones always seem to think perfume is perfect for a beauty loving gal (they’re not wrong) and this year was no different. I gained not one, but two gorgeous perfumes to add to my growing collection. I can’t give you a too in-depth review of the perfumes as this is more of a first impression post, but I have been wearing them enough to make up my mind on whether I like them or not.

The first new introduction to my collection is this Juicy Couture ‘Couture La La’ perfume that I was gifted to by one of my beautiful friends. I was really excited to try this perfume, I already own a Juicy Couture perfume and I had been meaning to add another one to that family. As with all JC perfumes, this one was housed in a gorgeous decorated glass bottle and the perfume itself has a pretty pinkish tint. The notes in this are sparkling mandarin with bold white florals and as you probably already know, anything with white floral notes is bound to be a hit with me and this was no different. I’ve been wearing this mostly in the day time and so far I am loving it, I’ve had a few questions at work at what I am wearing – that can only be a positive sign. It came in a set with a body lotion and shower gel – the lotion has been nabbed by my mum but the shower gel I am keeping because I need more travel friendly sized shower gels in my stash!

The second perfume I was gifted was this gorgeous Dior Hypnotic Poison by my best friend. I actually had my eyes on Dior ‘Miss Dior’ and I think my best friend got that a bit muddled up but they did give me the receipt in case I wanted to exchange. I am not giving this back. I had a little sniff in the perfume aisle of this before I opened it and I think I fell a little bit in love. It’s quite deep, musky intoxicating scent with notes of bitter Almond and Carvi, Sambac Jasmine, Vanilla and Musk. The second I read it contains Jasmine I thought to myself ‘no wonder I love this, it only contains one of favourite notes ever!’ This is definitely an evening scent for me, I love wearing it for evening meals out and such. This also comes in a set with a clutch and a body lotion, and actually surprisingly the clutch itself is actually quite nice and the lotion is bottled in a rather pretty container. Overall I am really impressed and I’m so glad my best friend made a little mix up and landed this in my life.

That is it for this perfume post, I got rather lucky and got two perfumes that I really do enjoy and one works well for day time and one for the evening. I think I still do have my heart set on acquiring Dior ‘Miss Dior’ so I might drop a few hints when present giving situations arise! I don’t think I’ve bought myself perfume since I was about 16 and I kind of want to carry on that rather spoilt traditon.. a little naughty of me to though to be honest! What is your favourite perfume? And do let me know if you would like to see a perfume collection post/video too. Tanzina x

Taylor by Taylor Swift Perfume

I have a little perfume review for you today, Taylor by Taylor Swift. It’s a perfume that was released a little while ago in August but I thought I would flag it up for you now closer to the holiday season as lots of people are buying presents. I was quite fond of the previous Taylor Swift perfume (you can read it about it here) and was intrigued to see what I made of this one.

Let’s start with appearances. The bottle is a hell of a statement and looks like an amazing weapon to carry in your handbag in case you want to whack someone with it. Someone who tries to mug you, insults you or nudges your arm while you apply lipstick on the train – that sort of thing. I actually really like the look of the bottle, it looks really nice on my dressing table and I love the inspiration behind it. The bottle was made to reflect Taylor Swift’s style – retro with a modern twist. There is a string of pearls at the neck of the bottle,to reflect how she likes dressing up outfits with pearls. I love the swirls of colours on top of the bottle too, it feels really retro. I know some people might find bold statements like this tacky but I adore it, I like something different sometimes and this just hits the spot.

On to the perfume itself, the first word that springs to mind is sweet. Not sickly, if it was sickly I wouldn’t even mention it here, but sweet is the word. It’s flirty and playful and I think it is perfect for the targeted audience, teens and early 20’s. It’s a carefree type of perfume, the one you spritz on before you walk out the door and perfect for a casual day time scent. There are a lot of fruit notes, some florals added to a base of of soft woods. The fruity notes featured are lychee and sparkling tangerine which I can immediately pick out in the first few sniffs at my wrist. The middle notes contain peonies, hydrangeas and vanilla orchids and the base contains creamy sandalwood, apricot nectar and cashmere musk.

I actually enjoy this perfume, but I tend to go for something a little deeper and woodier for evening scents. This perfume is perfect for those who shy away from strong overpowering perfumes and like something easy, sweet, fruity and flirty. I find the perfume does actually linger on the skin and has good staying power and is quite unique.

You can pick it up at most perfume retailers for £39.00 for 100ml.

I hope you liked today’s post, I think I should try do more perfume posts as I do have quite a few in my stash. Some people are a bit weird about celebrity perfumes but I don’t mind as long as they smell nice like this one. One of my favourite perfumes in my collection is Britney spears Fantasy, which I hear is approaching it’s 10th (how did time go so fast!) anniversary and will be launching with a black anniversary bottle! I’ll keep you posted. Have a lovely day!

Autumn Must Have: L’Occitane Vanille & Narcisse Eau de Toilette

I’ve had a special perfume in my collection for a while, and though I spritzed it generously at the start of summer I ended putting off wearing this gem throughout the hot summer days. Summer weather (when we have it!) usually has me reaching for light fruity and playful scents hence why this perfume has been resting on the back burner. However Autumn has popped it’s head around the corner for us here in the UK and there couldn’t be a better perfume for me to warm up my senses with than the L’Occitane Vanille and Narcisse.

L’Occitane have bought in an inhouse perfumer by the name of Karine Dubreil for the new(ish) ‘La Collection de Grasse’ to amp up the quality of their perfumes and I do believe it is a manoeuver that really has paid off. They’ve bought out four perfumes in the collection and this one just shouted out to me. I adore Vanilla in any perfume however can find it to be quite synthetic and cheap smelling in some perfumes however L’Occitane does the perfume note justice. This perfume just screams warmth, coziness and works well as both a day and night scent. It’s a perfume which develops, I find that the base notes slowly unfurl throughout the day and the Vanilla and Tonka Bean base notes become more apparent towards the end.

They say everyone picks up different notes from perfumes as every nose is different and I had a feeling I could note a floral element to the scent which I then discovered to be the middle note – Gardenia. Another white flower, surprise surprise… Nearly all my favorite scents hold white flower notes that can usually be found in Southern Asia, my parent’s birthplace. Fair to say I’m biased! The top notes are Blackcurrant and Bergamot (unusual!), heart/middle notes of Narcissus and Gardenia and base notes of Vanilla and Tonka Bean.

The minute we started getting grey skies here in the South East of England, this has been spritzed on every day. It’s quite subtle until it finally reveals itself and it’s base notes yet it is never overpowering. It’s a very unique scent unlike anything else I’ve come across and a really nice new take on the traditional Vanilla scent. You can pick this up for £49.00 for 75ml however don’t expect Eau de Parfum staying power as it is after all and EDT. You can pick this up here.

La Collection de Grasse

La Collection de Grasse

The notes and perfume I mentioned above may not appeal to everyone (though I don’t understand why not) however not to worry, L’Occitane have you covered. The collection ‘La Collection de Grasse’ contains four different perfumes which meet everyone’s perfumery needs. The collection is inspired by the fragrance capital of the world – Grasse, and this is reflected by the beautiful notes present in the collection. There is also Jasmine & Bergamot EDT, The Vert & Bigarade EDT (Unisex) and finally Magnolia & Mure EDT. All of the perfumes can be bought with matching skincare/bath products to prolong the scent throughout the day here.

I can’t spot the Petit Grasse Fragrance Collection which is the set of miniatures that I have online anymore, however pop into your local L’Occitane and see if they still stock it. If they do it retails for £28 and it is a great way to discover which one is your favourite.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post lovelies, do let me know if you have any Autumn ready perfumes that I should try! Love, Tanzina x

My Favourite Perfume: Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum

Morning Lovelies! Hope you are all okay. Today my blog post is on my favourite perfume, so it’s short and sweet. Some people don’t really have stand out favourite perfumes and I thought I didn’t either but I have always returned to this perfume since I was 17 years old, so that’s a good five years of perfume loving. It always remains my favourite, right at the top of the list and I would say I have quite a bit of a perfume collection. Now that I think about it I can pick my top three perfumes without having to really think about it but that’s a whole new post!

So if you haven’t already guessed from the title and the picture, my favourite perfume is Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum. I think my taste in fragrance has changed a little as I have grown up because when I was first introduced to this perfume I preferred the Eau de Toilette version more, probably because it was lighter. I would say that with age I have become more of a bolder person now, and maybe my perfume taste reflects that too (or so I would like to think!)

I don’t really research notes when it comes to perfume buying or choosing, usually I just smell the perfumes when I’m out and about and I either like it or I don’t. I have been very very lucky and I’ve only bought about one or two perfumes for myself over the years and have extremely generous loved ones who have always gifted perfumes that they know I like. Maybe that’s another reason why I’ve never really researched perfumes too in depth before purchasing.

After all these years of wearing this perfume, it is only today I research what notes are within the perfume that causes me to be so attracted to it! And straight away I know exactly why I am so gravitated towards it. It has a jasmine accord running through the perfume, and jasmine is one of my all time favourite scents. It’s so obvious I don’t know why I didn’t pick up on it before, I am so predictable. I find the fragrance to be floral but not sickly, feminine but not sweet at all and although it’s a fresh scent it is quite sultry and sexy in a way which I think is enhanced by the jasmine. It definitely makes me feel much better, more luxurious and classy once I spray it on – its funny how a perfume can do that!

This perfume really doesn’t come cheap, hence why I said I have extremely generous loved ones. It starts at around £48.00 for 35ml for the Eau de Parfum and up to £95.00 for the 100ml. You can have a better look at the range here.

I really do think I will have this perfume in my life for years and years to come, but you never know my taste in perfumes may mature and change, it definitely isn’t a set in stone thing. I like the thought of Chanel No.5, it’s very sexy but I think currently it is still too strong for me but as I mature, I might grow into it. If I could change one thing about this perfume, I would change how readily available it is! I want to be really greedy and keep it all for myself and let people ponder over what special signature fragrance I am wearing.

I am not even joking when I say if someone walks past me with this perfume on, I would straight away notice it and pinpoint that they are wearing it. I have never been able to do that with any other perfume, yet I do it repeatedly with this one. I don’t think there really is much more to say other than this clearly is a winner to me. Let me know if you guys would like a top three perfume post, it would be interesting to see whether the notes are similar in my top picks! Until next time lovelies have a great day, and let me know what your favourites are! Tanzina x
