Wedding Guest Makeup Look + Hair Tutorial

On my social media I get quite a lot of requests for a Wedding Guest makeup look, so today I finally have one for you. Being Bengali, I attend a lot of weddings, and Asian wedding guests tend to wear a lot more makeup than the average western wedding attender. I usually do make effort for the weddings I attend and I try and show my look on Instagram hence why I get requests for tutorials of the looks I created. Today’s look is one that will go with most Asian outfits, especially as nowadays people tend to wear outfits with gold accents over silver accents.

If you aren’t from Southern Asia, and are thinking wow that is a lot of makeup for someone else’s wedding, and you’d be right to think that, but I guess we tend to go a little overboard with these things and it’s become a part of our culture. I think it is a trend that isn’t likely to go away any time soon. So now on to the makeup look, as it is a tutorial, I will let the video do the talking for me but you’ll find a list of the products I used below:

Wedding Guest Outfit and Makeup Look

Ugh, it has been forever since I last posted on here. I don’t really have an excuse so I am not going to faff on too much about that. Anyway, moving on very swiftly from that, I’ve recently been to quite a few weddings and I wanted to share with you my outfit and makeup from one of the events I attended. I wore a pink saree that is actually very simple but somehow really impactful. You’ll see what I mean in the following pictures.

I tend to wear a lot of traditional Indian and Bangladeshi dresses, which I usually get from places similar to Lashkaraa, but I don’t wear a lot of sarees. I can’t actually wrap them, so one of my new year’s resolution was to learn how to wrap a saree. Unfortunately I still haven’t mastered that yet, so I have my mum to thank for the wrapping of this saree. This saree was so made for a wedding, you know when you have a wedding to go to where you aren’t close family, but you still need to make an effort? This saree was made for that. The saree itself is really plain but the blouse is quite a statement piece so it wasn’t too simple for a wedding at all.

The saree itself was from Mongas, they used to have a shop in Luton which is where I picked it up however unfortunately they have now closed this shop down. They have a shop in Southall so that may be worth checking out. I have some bad news for you guys if you are loving this saree – I picked it quite a few months ago so I doubt they will still have it in stock. However Mongas is really worth checking out for party sarees and wedding guest sarees. I think I picked this saree for either £100 or £120.

My earrings are from Bees in Green Street, London. I actually wore them on my Mehndi day. My clutch is from Accessorize.

Now on to things you can pick up. Lets talk through the makeup products I used for the below makeup look.

When I bought this saree, I knew exactly what shadow palette I would use when I finally wear it. The Urban Decay Naked 3 palette was made for this, it has gorgeous pinky toned shadows that just compliment my complexion so well. I love the darker shades at the end of the palette as well as you can create a really nice plum toned smokey eye. I thought since it was a wedding I’d add in some glitter courtesy of a Tom Ford palette that I have but hardly ever use. For my lips, after a long while I decided to turn away from the liquid lipsticks and pick up one of my trusty MAC lipsticks.

I hope you liked this post that I’ve created. I was unsure about posting it as the saree is actually no longer available but I thought you might like to see how I styled my outfit and also how I created my makeup look. I know August is peak wedding season for the Asian community and also with Eid around the corner I wanted you guys to get a little inspiration. Soft Smoky Makeup Look

I recently had a local event to attend with my husband and family. It was a charity comedy night, but to me it was more an excuse to dress up a little bit. I ended up creating a soft smoky makeup look and I filmed it for you all to watch. I finally found an angle in my new bedroom that I was kinda happy with, so I perched the camera and started filming. It’s been quite hard getting used to the new set up and mostly managing my time wisely, sometimes (a lot of the times) I feel pulled in so many directions, that my YouTube and blog end up being the biggest casualties. It’s fair to say I was quite proud I actually managed to film something for you!

So this look was sort of in between ‘I’m not making too much effort’, and ‘I am making a lot of effort’. I thought going with a thin line of liner, no contouring, no severe highlighting, I would look a little less try hard. Let me know if you think I managed to achieve that? Ooh I also tried out the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics eye shadow palette and it is fair to say I have fallen for it quite dramatically. It has the most beautiful packaging, and the shadows are so buttery and more importantly, all matte! It was so easy to create the soft smoky makeup look I was after.

Let’s talk products:

I thought this look was pretty easy to create and it didn’t take me too long. So onto the video, you can watch it below or [click here] to watch the video.

I would love to know what you think of it, I’m using a different set up so would love to know if you think the quality is clear, if my face is close enough or too close even to camera, did I explain it properly to you? Basically I would really appreciate any feedback you may have. I hope you liked my soft smoky makeup look, and remember if you DID like it, please like the video and subscribe. Now, what shall I film next?

Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Makeup Look

Hi loves, today I wanted to bring you a makeup look post, as it seems like forever since I last done a makeup look on here. As you might know from my Urban Decay Alice Palette post, I recently got hold of the new UD palette and I just cannot get enough of it. I decided to play it a little safe and create a wearable looking using the palette. Read on to find out more about my Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass makeup look.

I am not going to ramble too much in this post and instead get straight onto what I used to create this look. Although I have to just say, I love love love the peachy orange shades in this palette, they’re right up my street so of course they had to be incorporated into this look. I also am such a fan of a good red lipstick, and Urban Decay Iracebeth was just that. I love how highly pigmented it is, how comfortable it on the lips and just how pretty it looks against my skin. Okay, I’m starting to waffle, let’s get onto the product lists.

I have a really bad habit of using as many eye shadows as I can, that is why I love palettes and try and steer away from single eye shadows, do you have any idea how much it cost me to create a look I’d like? I’d need a whole range of single shadows! Okay let us talk face makeup, for the face I wanted something not too heavy but flawless as well, a slightly sculpted finish with a TON of glow. I think I did pretty well on the glow front!

Halo Makeup Look

I’ve told myself that 2016 is the year I try and crawl out of makeup rut and try lots of new makeup products. I have so many products I just reach for on a regular basis, and I am trying to now reach for different products because I feel like I am restricting myself by not exploring other brands and products. I recently created a halo makeup look where I tried a few new products so I thought share them with all as I really loved how the look turned out.

In case you are wondering what the hell is a halo makeup look, it is basically where you have a darker shadow on the outer corner and inner corner of your eyes and a lighter shadow on the centre of your eye. I’ve tried pointing it out in the above picture, I hope you don’t find it condescending but I didn’t know it was called a halo look until recently!

Eye & Brow Products Used:

Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade: Medium Brown
Anastasia Brow Powder Duo: Dark Brown
LA Girl Pro Concealer: Creamy Beige (to clean up under brow)
Urban Decay Primer Potion: Eden
MAC Eye Shadow: Brule (highlight)
Anastasia Shadow: Morroco (for warmth in the crease)
Sleek Makeup ‘The Gold Standard i-Lust Eyeshadow Palette’
Collection Fast Stroke Liquid Liner
Avon Supershock Gel Eyeliner Pencil
L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes
Eylure Vegas Nay Lashes: Grand Glamour

Sleek Gold Edition

I actually loved how this look turned out, the eyes are very smokey and dramatic and I find it makes the look quite sultry. For this look I branched out and used a palette I discovered last month and have fallen SO in love with, Sleek ‘The Gold Standard i-Lust Eyeshadow Palette’. This was actually part of their Christmas collection however it is still available on the Boots website for £7.49. Or you could ask to look in the Sleek drawers in stores as sometimes they still have old collections hidden away in the drawers waiting to be collected. I love the third shadow, which is a gorgeous gold cream shadow with specks of glitter in it, I applied this to the centre of my eye lid and then applied the fourth shadow, a powder antique gold, on top. I also really love the fifth shade, which is a gorgeous light pearly silver cream eyeshadow. I keep using this recently as my inner corner highlight and going over it with the final shade which is shimmery light shell shade. This palette definitely has made me fall back in love with Sleek shadows, I will need to pick up more palettes in the future.

Face & Lip Products Used:

bareMinerals bareSkin Foundation: Honey
Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation: SB10
LA Girls Pro Concealer: Creamy Beige
Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Highlighter and Corrector: Shade 2
Artist of Makeup Contour Stick: Dark
Sleek Contour Kit: Light
Elizabeth Arden Golden Opulence Beautiful Colour Highlighter
MAC Lipstick: Mehr
MAC Lip Pencil: Burgundy

For my face makeup, I went for my current favourite look, the highlighted look. This time however rather than opting for the super shimmery highlight, I went for a subtle sheen using the Elizabeth Arden Golden Opulence highlighter. This provides a really nice glow, I personally prefer to use the middle light shade and the gold shade swirled together. It really does provide a really nice highlight which reflects nicely in the light, but it isn’t too heavy at all. I prefer wearing this in the day. Also I toned down the shimmer highlight, I decided to bring out the features I wanted the light to hit by using the Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Highlighter and Corrector. This is very similar to the YSL Touche Éclat, which I have, but I feel like this has a little more coverage and pigment. I used this under the eyes, in between the brows and slightly down my nose and a couple of dabs on the centre of my chin. I can definitely see the difference it made to my look, especially under my eye. My nose and cupid bow also looks really sculpted.

MAC Mehr
On my lips I used a combination I am actually really enjoying as of late, I applied MAC Burgundy pencil all over and then MAC Mehr on top.

I hope you liked this halo makeup look, if you would like me to do a tutorial on this on my YouTube channel (find that here), just leave me a comment and I will try get that done for you. I know writing it down isn’t as easy to understand as seeing it done for yourself in a video format. Let me know what you think of this look! Tanzina x
