Cult Beauty Haul – Jouer and Beauty Bakerie

Hi loves, recently I picked up a few beauty bits from one of my favourite beauty websites, Cult Beauty. It wasn’t a hugeeee haul, so this won’t be a drawn out essay like post which I have the tendency to write, instead this is a quick ‘see what was in my Cult Beauty haul’ kinda post.

Jouer Cosmetics Power Highlighter Topaz

I was and still am signed up to quite a few wait lists on the Cult Beauty website. I LOVE that feature, helps me pick up products I’ve got my eye on like the ones in this post. I was scrolling through Instagram recently and saw someone use the Jouer Cosmetics Power Highlighter in Topaz and I think it was pretty much love at first sight. I’ve not used Jouer Cosmetics before so my interest was piqued. I rushed over to the Cult Beauty site to pick it up immediately, only alas, it was out of stock. So I signed up to the wait list expecting it to be a while before the product comes back in stock. However I got extremely lucky and it came into stock within a few days so of course I picked this up. The packaging feels luxurious and the colour is just divine, it is more on the gold side which is what I wanted as I have quite a few of the champagne shade in highlighters already. I can’t wait to have a play with this. I also picked one of these up for my best friend as I felt like it was going to be a winner. I will definitely be creating some makeup looks with this beauty, so be sure to come back for that. You can pick this up [here] for £19.00

The second thing I picked up in my Cult Beauty haul was a bunch of Beauty Bakerie Lip Whips. Just like Jouer Cosmetics, I haven’t tried anything from Beauty Bakerie before so again I was excited to discover a new brand. I talked about these on my wish list post [here]. The packaging for the brand looks absolutely amazing, I’m surprised I’ve never tried it before. I picked up 5 Lip Whips in the following shades:

  • Syruptitious – A mauve-rose shade
  • Fortune Cookie – A cool toned beige nude shade
  • Gingersnap – A warm burnt orange/brown red shade
  • Take Me for Pomegranate – A deep bold red berry shade
  • Mon Cheri – A pigmented classic red shade

Mon Cheri was sold out when I first tried to buy it, so I had to place a second order to make sure I got hold of it. Again I picked up two because it seemed like a beautiful red and I wanted my best friend to have one as well. I’m not going to review these here for you right now, there is a separate review/swatch video coming up for these so again make sure you check back for that. These retail at £16.00 [here]. Let’s just say I highly recommend you check them out.

That is it for my Cult Beauty haul, it’s a short and sweet one and you know what? Sometimes, just sometimes, I prefer that. It means I don’t have a heap of products to get through, a heap of products sitting there to be photographed, and I don’t get overwhelmed. I hope you liked today’s post and do let me know if you’d like to see more haul posts. Speak soon, Tanzina x

My New Camera, the Sony A5100

I’ve been deliberating getting a smaller camera for the longest time, I have a huge DSLR [see it here] which is a little bit too big to blend in when I want to take pictures of food at a restaurant or on a family trip. I’ve ooh-ed and umm-ed over which model I wanted and finally I decided on one after seeing just how popular it was with social media lovers. However before I could pick it up myself, my best friend decided to surprise with it on a special day! It is fair to say I was ridiculously happy. So without much further ado, let’s talk about my new camera, the Sony A5100.

Sony A5100

I’ve always had Canon cameras and I have never really been tempted by a Sony model, especially when I was shopping for DSLRs. The Nikons have looked tempting but I had already decided I was a Canon girl through and through. That was before I started hearing all the amazing reviews about the Sony A5000, the previous model to the camera I got. It was especially a hit on Instagram, with some labelling it the best selfie camera ever. As I like to post pictures of my makeup looks on Instagram (find me as @makeupatoz), a good selfie is a reason to celebrate.

I loved how this camera has a flip out screen, not all compact cameras do, and just how light and sleek it is. I think I am so used to lugging around a huge DSLR, so this camera feels so little and dinky in my hands. It is perfect for blogging events as it will be so easy to slip into my handbag without weighing it down, which is always a problem with my DSLR as I usually have to travel into London. I am really happy that my friend opted for a white finish for me, I’m not sure why but I definitely prefer it to the black, maybe because I am tired of all the black cameras I have had. The camera also has WiFi transfer, which a lot of cameras are starting to have nowadays. This means I can easily transfer pictures over to my phone, making this camera very social media friendly.

I haven’t yet used this camera, I haven’t had the time to as I have been so busy as of late and have only had this camera for just over a week. However I am going away to Longleat Safari Park today and tomorrow I will be visiting Bath so I will try snap some pictures and share them with you. I’ve been meaning to incorporate more of my life into my blog posts so maybe this will help.

If you can’t wait to have a look at how this camera performs, I would suggest you take a look at Fee’s blog Makeupsavvy as she uses the previous model Sony A5000 a lot. Her photographs are absolutely beautiful and I think knowing that she uses this camera really cemented it in my wish list. Also, since a newer model has come out, the A5000 is priced really well right now £249 here.

If you wanted to pick up the Sony A5100 model, you can find it here for £404.99.

I am so excited to get snapping with this, I have a PR event next week so I think over the next few days this camera will be seeing a lot of action. I hope to have my weekend post up soon, so if you don’t see it within the week, feel free to bug me about it! Tanzina x

Collective Beauty Haul

It has been a while since I done a haul post, and I think that is due to a combination of not shopping as much as I used to and also because I tend to pick up things nowadays sporadically rather than all at once. However I have gathered a few beauty bits recently so I thought I would do a collective beauty haul with you today and show you the goodies that have caught my attention.

Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss uk

Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss uk

I picked this Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss up from Duty Free when I went to Portugal, so I have had it for a little while now. The shade I picked up is 51 Insouciance, which is a gorgeous creamy brown nude shade with peachy undertones that really flatter my skin tone. I’ve been wanting a high end lip gloss for quite some time, especially in a nude shade so that I can wear quite easy and quite often. This shade is the perfect nude for me, and it is so easy to apply. The applicator gives really good precision and the finish of the gloss is creamy and opaque but not sticky at all. However I am really disappointed to find that I can’t find this gloss anywhere online in the UK. I really hope it isn’t discontinued but I have a sneaky feeling that it is. Just my luck, I find the perfect nude lip gloss and it’s not available anymore.

Real Techniques Sculpting Set

Next, a limited edition item which is thankfully still available. I was perusing the aisles of Superdrug when I noticed the Real Techniques Sculpting Set which I just had to have. I love Real Technique brushes and this set looked like it had brushes I would make good use of, I tend to stay away from sets where I can’t see use for every single brush. I really like the look of the fan brush as it seems light and perfect for highlighting, and also the smaller setting brush would be perfect for contour for me as I like a small brush for precision. You can pick this up here for £20.99.

Bioderma h20 Micellar Water

If you are a long time reader of this blog, the fact that I stocked up on Bioderma h20 Micellar Water comes as no surprise to you. I don’t really know what to say about it other than it is a Holy Grail product for me and I cannot live without it! You can find my more in depth rave about it here. I always buy it from Amazon as I find that to be the cheapest place to buy two 500ml bottles from, although you might want to search elsewhere if you were after smaller bottles. You can pick up 2 x 500ml here for £21.70.

MAC Whirl Lip Pencil

Last weekend I went to London for a bit of shopping and afternoon tea with my friend (you can read more about that here). Whilst we were there I had to of course pop into MAC and see if there was anything that caught my attention. I adore MAC lip products especially their matte lipsticks and lip pencils. MAC Whirl Lip Pencil has been the ‘it’ lip liner for quite some time now, after Kylie Jenner mentioned it was her go to lip pencil for her signature dusty rose lip look. I’ve been meaning to get hold of it for a while as I really like the shade, but it seemed to be constantly sold out. Luckily MAC St Pancras had some in stock so I finally got my hands on it. I will do a full review on it soon. You can pick it up here for £12.50.

Miss Dior Eau de Parfum

Last but definitely not least, I finally got my hands on a perfume I have wanted for ages! Technically it isn’t really a purchase as it was a gift from my best friend but it is such a beautiful perfume that I HAD to add it in. I have wanted Miss Dior Eau de Parfum for the longest time, I mentioned it in a wish list in 2013 (read that here)! Two years later this beautiful perfume is finally mine. I just love the scent, it reminds me of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle a lot, which is great as that is my all-time favourite scent. You can pick it up here for £49.50.

Talking of wish lists, I have decided to finally create a wish list page on my blog as I have always wanted one so that all my shopping wants are all in one place, and also I wanted the satisfaction of crossing something off the list once I got my mitts on it! If you wanted to know what I am lusting over, you can take a peek at my new page.

I hope you liked today’s post, it was a little mish mash of different types of products but I thought I would share them with you as I always find it interesting to see what people are popping into their shopping bags! Speak soon, Tanzina x

My Very First Zoeva Haul

Hi loves, another haul post today! It seems like I have been shopping a lot but I promise I haven’t, I picked up a few pieces when I went to UMAE and as I promised, I thought I would share it with you all. Today it is my Zoeva haul, Zoeva is a brand I have been meaning to try out for a while now but I never really saw any of their products in person so I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to pick bits up or not. However when I went to UMAE, they were at the Love Makeup stand and I just couldn’t resist.

I thought I would start off with the brushes I picked up, after all Zoeva are known for their brushes. I was really tempted to pick up their Rose Golden Complete Eye Set but I knew I wouldn’t use all the brushes so I behaved and resisted the temptation to take it to the checkout till! Instead picked up the following brushes: 110 Face Shape Brush, 142 Concealer Buffer and the 228 Luxe Crease. It was actually David Horne who introduced me to the Face Shape Brush, he used it whilst he applied his GlamBase Wheel (find my review here). I absolutely loved the ‘bounce’ of the brush and just how good it was at both applying and blending product. The Concealer Buffer brush reminded me so much of the Real Techniques Deluxe Crease brush which I use pretty much every day to blend my concealer. I’ve now been using the Zoeva version and I have to admit, I may just love it more! I picked the Luxe Crease brush as I have a thing for amazing blending brushes and this one is particular looked pretty special. I’ve used it a couple of times already and my initial observation was pretty good, I love how good this is for blending!

110 Face Shape Brush – £8.95
142 Concealer Brush – £7.95
228 Luxe Crease Brush – £6.95

I had no idea Zoeva did makeup, did you?! It wasn’t till I saw it in person that I cottoned on, all this time I just assumed they were a brush company. Recently I have been looking for a creamy warm dark brown pencil liner as I love using that type of shade on my bottom lash line. I have some plain pencils but I wanted something with a little ‘oomph’ to it and the Zoeva Graphic Eyes Pencil in Rock ‘N’ Roll provided just that. The consistency and product itself reminded me a lot of the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils, but just at a much cheaper price range. It sets quickly and doesn’t budge which is exactly what I need for a long day at the office. The colour itself is a dark brown with beautiful red and pink glitter which is such an unusual combination. It is a subtle sparkle and not too glittery, so it is very wearable. It is easy to smudge before it sets and is a great colour to add definition to my eyes without being as harsh as a black shade would be. It retails for £5.50 here and I would definitely recommend it.

I hope you liked my Zoeva haul, it wasn’t a huge one but I have to admit I have caught the Zoeva bug and am tempted to pick up one of the sets! For those of you who were in my shoes, unsure whether to take the plunge, I would recommend that you do as they really are good quality brushes at a very good price point. I am very happy to report that my very first Zoeva haul was a successful one! Speak to you soon, Tanzina x
