Gift Idea: BareMinerals The Mix Master Convertible Eyeshadow Palette

Hi loves, I’m back today with another gift idea post in preparation for this month’s celebrations. I cannot comprehend how we are at the end of 2013 and 2014 is a month away. How? The gift idea I am featuring today is a rather unique palette, unlike anything I’ve come across and will be great to have for those who like touching up on their makeup through out the night.

BareMinerals The Mix Master Convertible Eyeshadow Palette

BareMinerals The Mix Master Convertible Eyeshadow Palette

This baby is the BareMinerals The Mix Master Convertible Eyeshadow Palette, phew that is a long title! This is a very unique palette in the sense that is is literally two palettes in one. Firstly all the twelve shadows pop out, so you can arrange them in an order to suit you. You have twelve different types of shadows, a mix of base, crease and liner shades though of course you are free to use them as you like. There is a great mix of colours from neutrals to full out smokey shades, and yes there aren’t any vivid daring colours like a bright pop of yellow but really, how many people use those shades on a daily basis. This palette is for someone who would want a palette where they can use every single shade. Hey, don’t think I wouldn’t rock a bright eye everyday, for years I did! But what floats my boat doesn’t work for everyone.

The packaging is gorgeous, its sleek and very compact so travelling with it is easy. It’s black with a gem like print on it and sturdy too. Now remember I said it is literally two palettes in one? Now you know what I mean. The inner section of the palette slides out to make a smaller compact, with a trio of shades that you can pick and mix! How clever is that? This really is perfect for travelling and times when you know you’d want the option of a touch up. You also get a mirror inside and a brush which I am pleased to say is actually a very nice brush and not one of those useless ones you will never use. It has a flat liner brush on one side and a very nice fluffy tapered crease brush on the other.

Now lets get swatching.

The first six are Maven (blackened navy), Panorama (charcoal), Perspective (deep espresso), Embellish (glittery pewter), Day Dream (nude creme) and Stealth (apricot chiffon). As you can see all the shades are creamy, pigmented and smooth. I’ve already been creating makeup looks with this palette and the shadows are so easy to work with. Now on to the next six shades.

BareMinerals The Mix Master Convertible Eyeshadow Palette

Here we have In Vogue (matte smoky purple), Custom Made (pink quartz pearl), Hot Commodity (metallic medium copper), Max Volume (smoky jade), Muse (pink frost) and Mixologist (champagne sheen). I think I love Day Dream the most, it is such a perfect pigmented nude shade, oh and also Embellish because I am a sucker for a unique shimmery shade. Okay lets just make it a trio, my third favourite is Hot Commodity, a gorgeous shade that glides on like butter – what is there not to love?

BareMinerals The Mix Master Convertible Eyeshadow Palette

This palette is definitely a keeper in my opinion, it wouldn’t be appearing here if it wasn’t! It’s perfect for any beauty enthusiast really, from the advanced beauty lover to those who are newly introduced to this addictive world. Of course you could be greedy and just keep it for yourself ! This palette retails for £45.00 and has a value of £87.00 so you are saving quite a few pennies there.  You can pick it up at any Bareminerals stockist or here on their site. Don’t forget to use code ‘XMAS1’ at checkout for free delivery.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post, if you did then make sure you keep a look out for my next post which may be tomorrow or a few days after. I have created a smokey green makeup look using this palette to share with you all so stay tuned to see what I used to achieve it. Until next time lovelies, have a great day

Gift Idea: Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette with Swatches

Today I thought I would do the first of my Christmas gift ideas post and this one features a very pretty palette. Some of you may already now I was lusting after the Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette, and with the aid of a few well placed hints and strategic nudges it found its way to my graduation presents pile. Despite the heavy hint dropping I was still really surprised to be gifted this and very relieved that they didn’t mix it up with Vice 1 which I already have! Today I am opening it up, swatching and sharing my thoughts on it.

Now firstly the packaging, I loved everything about the last Vice palette except the rubbery NARS-esque finish to it and was really happy to see this one lacked that finish. Other than that it is exactly the same, it opens with the same swish motion, comes with the same duo ended brush and is equipped with the huge mirror. The outside packaging is a plastic purple marble style look with a glitzy UD symbol on it. I love how sleek it is, not bulky at all and not too heavy either. Packaging wise, it is 5 stars from me.

Now on to the eyeshadows themselves, in my opinion Urban Decay have one of the very best eyeshadow formula. They are so creamy, pigmented and really easy to blend. Individually buying the shadows can get pricey which why I almost always pick up the palettes as it works out to be better value for money. This palette retails for £42.00 which works out to be £2.1 per shadow – in my eyes a bargain! The palette contains 20 exclusive shades made up of mattes, shimmers and metallics. Lets get swatching!

urban decay vice 2 swatches

The first row is mostly made up of neutral shades, and probably the row which will get the most wear from me.  We have Dope (warm champagne satin), Toxic (metallic copper-pink shimmer w/tonal micro-glitter), Habit (light nude matte), Ambush (metallic brown satin) and Rewind (medium brown matte). The matte shades are so creamy, and I always whoop when I see a matte shade in an UD palette. I’m realy looking forward to working with Toxic as pinks like that work well with brown eyes.

urban decay vice 2 swatch

Next row up contains more shimmery gem stones shades, some with glitter and some not. Radar (metallic brown shimmer w/iridescent micro-glitter), Damaged (bright metallic emerald shimmer), Voodoo (metallic purple shimmer w/iridescent purple micro-glitter), Betrayal (bright purple satin w/blue shift) and Derailed (medium metallic taupey-brown). I love this row also, the emerald green shade is stunning and I can see myself using quite a bit on Asian makeup clients. One of my favourite shades is in this row, can you guess which?

Urban decay vice 2 swatches

The pigmentation on this row didn’t show up too well on camera, however they are just as rich as the others. We have Prank (deep navy matte w/turquoise floating pearl), Madness (bright metallic blue shimmer w/blue micro-glitter), Strike (antique gold shimmer w/silver micro-glitter), Stash (deep olive green shimmer w/iridescent micro-sparkle), Poison (charcoal satin). Another one of my favourite shades is in this row but I wish I included Madness in to my favourites now. It’s such a beautiful blue.

Now the final row. This row has some absolute beauties and a bit of a miss too. We have Smokeout (dark taupey-black satin), Lovesick (black matte w/iridescent micro-glitter), Shellshock (bright metallic silver), Coax (medium metallic pink w/golden iridescent micro-sparkle), X-Rated (baby pink satin). I love some of the colours here a lot however was slightly dissapointed in Lovesick as its not as pigmented as the rest. I guess for a less strong smokey eye this would work well, hey every cloud has a silver lining!

urban decay vice 2 swatches

I thought I would limit myself to four favourites, in my head I was thinking if I had to make a quad what colours would I choose? I chose the shades due to their uniqueness, these four shades were unlike anything I had come across before. First up the beautiful gemstone shade Betrayal, it’s multifaced with a duotone finish, I adore it. Next is Shellshock which is almost like liquid silver, it’s so opaque and creamy and just glides like butter. The same thing can be said for Coax, the finish for both of these are very similar and I cannot wait to create looks with it. And finally Prank – the camera does not do this shade justice. It’s a deep navy matte with turquoise shimmer running through it, so rich, so pigmented and just beautiful. Sigh.

The palette retails for £42.00 and it is limited edition so if you wanted to bag it or yourself or as a gift I would highly recommend picking it up as soon as possible. You can find it here at Debenhams online.

That is it for today’s post, it is a picture heavy one but with a palette this beautiful it deserves as many pictures taken of it as possible! I am an extremely happy bunny to receive this beauty, it definitely has a safe happy home with me and I will be bringing you looks I create with this as soon as I can. Make sure you follow me on Bloglovin’ so you don’t miss those posts! Hit that button below & until next time have a great day. Tanzina x

Elemis QVC TSV: Jasmine and Rose Milk Bath

Hi lovelies! Today I have a very special post for you, featuring a product which I feel like I have been waiting forever for! Elemis have launched a brand spanking new product over at QVC which also features in the QVC TSV which stands for Today’s Special Value. Don’t know what that is? Well let me brief you ever so quickly – it means you get amazing products for a ridiculously got price. Simples.

Elemis QVC TSV: Jasmine and Rose Milk Bath

Elemis QVC TSV: Jasmine and Rose Milk Bath

What a beautiful set, it was a pleasure to picture and an even greater pleasure to use. To me the star of the show is  new Jasmine and Rose Milk Bath, which is the sister product to the award-winning, best seller Skin Nourishing Milk Bath (which I need to try). It is a beautiful blend of Turkish Rose and Egyptian Jasmine combined with skin nourishing Argan and Camellia Oil. You know me, say the word Jasmine loud enough and it ends up in my basket. This is absolutely beautiful to use, the oils sort of veil you in the tub, the scent takes over and I just felt so relaxed. When I stepped out of the bath my skin felt soft and silky – remember I raved about it here? Well it was worth the rave!

Elemis QVC TSV: Jasmine and Rose Milk Bath

The set also comes with some great skin care items, which actually happen to be items I use on a daily basis. You can bet your money I was pleased to get my hand on this kit even though I was slightly annoyed as I recently JUST purchased a new Pro Collagen Marine Cream. The set comes with Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm which I am actually going to go use after I finish writing this up. I alternate two or three cleansers and this is one of my absolute favourite. It really takes everything off, I wrote more in depth about it here. It also comes with the aforementioned Marine Cream, which I love love love. It is my every day moisturiser, I cannot live without it. I talked about it here. And finally it comes with Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm to instantly brighten and tighten your skin and leave it all glowy. I ALSO talked about this here and you see pictures of me wearing it. Ah this set is just heaven.

Elemis QVC TSV: Jasmine and Rose Milk Bath

Now onto bath, spa and relaxation products. I’ve already mentioned the amazing Jasmine and Rose Milk Bath but there is also a product here I haven’t tried (shock, horror). It is the Frangipani Monoi Shower Cream with Tahitian Monoi and Frangipani Flowers which promises to leave skin beautifully soft and delicately scented. I have pretty much loved every product Elemis have bought out so I am guessing I will love this. I will write a review upon this soon. And the last beauty is my mum’s favourite oil, she puts it lightly on her hair to fragrance it. I bought it last year for her birthday and now have no reason to keep stealing it as I have my own. This is the Frangipani Monoi Body Oil, a three-in-one body, hair and nail oil is infused with frangipani flowers and will help add fragrant moisture and leave a gorgeous sheen to your skin. To accommodate the collection, the set also comes with a handy toiletry bag.

The TSV has actually launched, it launched at midnight and as I type this it is 3.30AM and will be running on QVC all day. Yes I am up at crazy hour. The set retails for £39.96 and is available to buy here and also on the QVC shopping channel (Sky Digital Channel 640, Freeview Channel 16 Virgin Channel 740 and Freesat Channel 800) when they feature the TSV. It has an amazing saving of OVER £85!

I absolutely love this set, it is so pretty and just contains so many treasures that I could not recommend it enough. The set can easily be divided up between people so if you wanted to split the cost with a friend you could. It also makes for great gift giving in time for the holiday season, you can divide it up and give different products to different people. Or you could be greedy like I would be and keep it all for yourself. If you read yesterday’s post, then you would know I will be hosting a giveaway with this set and the Men’s care set which I should set up either by tomorrow or Tuesday. I am slightly overwhelmed with work right now but I will have it up and running for you as soon as possible! Hope you enjoyed today’s post, lots of love, Tanzina x

Mother’s Day with Elemis

I’m such an idiot sometimes, see I’ve been meaning to do a Mother’s day post for a while but in my head it was a week away and not a day away! See I’m seeing my Mum next weekend as I live away from home and am not able to visit her this week. Thinking that in mind, I kept putting the post off! However reality has kicked in and here is a super late Mother’s Day post. Hopefully it’ll help you with last minute gift ideas or if you are like me and celebrating it after the actual day. I have two options for you, one very savvy and affordable and the other luxurious but with great savings.

Mother's Day (1)

This is a cute little duo to unwind to, I actually bought the Valentine duo (for myself!) and I’m still really enjoying it. This little duo comes with a Skin Nourishing Milk Bath which I really want to try and test out and a lavender candle to compliment it and create a really relaxing bath moment. It’s priced at £12 for spa quality products and you can pick it up here

harvey_nichols001

The second gift idea is a collaboration between Elemis and Harvey Nichols and something I really am considering getting for my mum. It’s an ultimate pampering package, and will definitely make most Mums very happy to receive. I have the details below.

Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge are offering an amazing package, where you can get all of the following, for just £100. (Total package is worth £150)

2 x 3 course lunch at Season restaurant
2 x Elemis facials
1 x complimentary gift from Elemis

And although it’s really cheeky you can benefit from this gift two. You can chaperone your Mum and experience it with her too. Perfect for bonding and sharing the experience with her. Or you could send someone else along, like your Dad but luckily for me this really isn’t anything my Dad would enjoy! Not that I’m complaining. Looks like I will have headed to Harvey Nichols before this post is live!

I hope you’ve liked the ideas, and if you have any great ones do let me know. I really want to do something hand made so please share ideas. 2012 and 2013 really have been a great year for my relationship with Elemis, I’m discovering and falling in love with more and more products. I’ve actually have a few more Elemis products that I LOVE that needs to be shared with you, so keep an eye out for that! I hope you all have an amazing day – Tanzina x

Total package is worth £150.

Last Minute: Perfect Stocking Fillers

So this is rather.. last minute. Sort of like my shopping habits. However for any last minute product grabbers like myself I hope this post is slightly helpful! This post is dedicated to little presents, things that might  make up a big present or be given as part of a secret Santa. Products you can stuff in stockings, and really just have fun with.

IMG_4989

The first item I would suggest is one I’ve really been having a lot of fun with, and I would be more than happy with receiving as a gift. The product I’m talking about and have been obsessing over for the past few weeks is Skin Art’s Temporary Tattoos. Written upon the packaging is ‘Ink yourself with zero commitment… temporary tattoos inspired by the world of fashion music and celebrity‘. I love the thought of inking yourself with no commitment, it takes me back to my school days when I would doodle myself with gel pens. I love the look of tattoos but would never get a permanent one, I think it really is too much commitment and at times foolish however these gorgeous things are the perfect middle ground because they are temporary. They honestly do look extremely realistic as well, my friends and family know I am anti tattoos but I managed to fool quite a few people into believing I had a tattoo inked! Just don’t let them come too close or let them touch it, that may give the game away. The set I would recommend is this lovely one with over a 100 tattoos varying from large sizes to small, calligraphy to designs. It’s a perfect way to start experimenting with the world of temp tattoos and would also be quite great sharing with a few people. You can pick this up here for £10 or pop into your local Boots to see if they have it there. I will be playing around more with this kit and will post pictures soon. If you don’t follow me already on instragram, please do as the pictures will probably appear there first! I am makeupatoz over there.

IMG_4996

The second thing that I would suggest is something I am guessing a lot of people (if they are anything like me) will love receiving, as there is no such thing as too much lashes. I love false lashes, and I can especially see them being very popular around this time of year where there are lots of parties and events to attend. False lashes range from lots of different prices, and if your feeling extra generous I would recommend Shu Uemura Karl Lagerfield premium lashes for a cool £50. However that’s not the price range we are considering in this post and I have some lovely alternatives for you. I really enjoy Eylure lashes, they are/were my absolute favourite especially the Nadine lashes from the Girls Aloud range. Slightly steeper in price are the MAC lashes and they also come in quite a large range to choose from. However recently I’ve been a bit of a convert for the gorgeous Let’s Go lashes and the Nouveau range, you can read my review here. They are affordable and the quality isn’t compromised at all. I’ve been wearing the ones I reviewed for well over 8-9 times now and they are still going strong. I know they would be greatly received if I stumbled across them at the end of my stockings!

IMG_5000

New Year usually brings out new looks in people, and my third and final gift item is all about that. Changing hair colour is a scary ordeal at times, however it is never as scary as changing it to a unconventional colour such as.. blue! I’ve always wanted to dye my hair a wacky colour but I’ve made peace with the fact that I most likely never will, I’m simply not brave enough. This is where this product steps in, it is the Colour Extreme hair art kit. It promises you ‘high impact, instant hair colour with zero commitment,’ exactly what I’m looking for. I’ve actually ran the blue colour through my ends and it showed up much better than I thought it would as I have extremely dark hair however I can definitely see this being much better on lighter hair. The kits retails for £12.99 however if you wanted to go for just one colour you can pick a single can of colour up for a cheerful £2.99. It’ll be great to see in the new year with a pop of something different, I can see this catching eyes at new years eve parties. I will be doing a review of this kit soon and also hosting a give away giving you guys a chance to win the kit very soon! It’ll be a twitter follow and retweet give away so keep a look out for that!

I hope you enjoyed that post even if you have done all your shopping, it might give you ideas of things to try in the future. I’m back at my family home and am really happy, I haven’t seen them for three weeks and have missed them very much. I type this in candle and fairy light, I have to admit the dim lighting is making my room feel very romantic. Hope you all have a great day, I’m waiting on my little brother to arrive home from his sleepover so we can make little gingerbread men! Take care lovelies – Tanzina x
