Unboxing Lush Gift Set In Your Dreams

Hi loves, I finally got round to unboxing a Lush Gift set I was gifted for my birthday (in January!) and I thought I would snap a few pictures and do a quick unboxing for you all. The gift set I got was ‘In Your Dreams’ which contained two of my favourite products from Lush which is a bath bomb and bubble bar. I adore bubble baths so I always pick up bubble bars and bath bombs when I feel like I am running low so I was very happy to see the contents of this box.

How bright and colourful does this the packaging look? I love Lush gift packaging they always look so cheerful and this one in particular matches the content perfectly. The first thing that caught my eyes when I unwrapped it is the huge bath bomb called Granny Takes A Dip. This is what the set contained:

Granny Takes A Dip – This is a huge multi colour bath bomb that turns the bath into a vivid psychedelic colour fest. It smelled so zesty and slightly spicy and ended up turning my bath a pinkish purple. It fizzed really slowly so the fun was elongated and I’ve already picked up a replacement one. You can pick up all year round for £3.35. Find it here

Unicorn Horn – Now this one is a little bit annoying because I believe it was a Valentine exclusive and you can’t get it all year round. However it really is a gem of a product, and smells gorgeous with lavender being a prominent scent so perfect for relaxing in the tub with. It leaves so many bubbles and the water a metallic light pink shade. I used about a third of it for my bath so I think I can get two more uses out of it however I don’t want to as I know I can’t replace it easily! If it comes out again next year I will definitely be stocking up.

I thought I would quickly show you my current Lush stash, it fluctuates depending on how I am feeling. If I am in the mood for bubble baths its usually full of bubble bars but right now I am in a so-so mood so it is running a little low. Currently I have Granny Takes A Dip bath bomb, 2/3 of Unicorn Horn bubble bar, Think Pink bath bomb, Space Girl bath bomb and I think The Comforter bubble bar but I’m not 100% sure as it was also a gift.

I hope you liked my quick unboxing post, and my initial thoughts. A huge thank you to my gorgeous friend Yasmin for always getting presents right :) and until next time take care, Tanzina x

A Kneipp Sleep

I’m definitely a long hot bath kind of girl, well I used to be until I started working and I couldn’t afford to regularly spend and hour plus in the bath. However just because I can’t do it often, doesn’t mean I try to indulge when I get the chance. Most nights I plan to have a bath but I’m usually too strapped for time and have to decide between a longer sleep or a bath and my sleep always comes first meaning a quick shower it is. But when I do get the chance to indulge, I really do indulge.

Like I’ve already said, recently sleep is like gold dust to me, I appreciate every second of it. Previously (in my student life) I used to sleep upto 10-11 hours but it used to be light, interrupted sleep which probably wasn’t very healthy for me and it used to be at crazy hours, I’d go sleep at 6AM and wakeup around 5PM, my whole day used to be wasted away. However now that I have gotten into a routine I only get aroun 6-7 hours a day (huge change) and I have to make sure that it’s a well rested deep sleep. Now if you’ve read my blog for a while you’ll know I love a hot bubble bath, it’s the perfect medicine for me when I’m sad or tired but recently I discovered a new love that doesn’t include bubbles – cue shock and horror. I’ve heard quite a bit about Kneipp before, especially their bath salts that are said to work wonders and actually fulfil what they promise. I thought it was about time I put that to the test.

I’ve got Deep Sleep, Muscle Soothing and Cold & Sinus Relief in my bath salt collection, and I have to admit the childish side of me reached straight for Deep Sleep due to it’s bright blue colouring. This contains Valverian and Hops and is said to help sleep well and feel more rested. Hops is known for its calming qualities and Valreian has been used since medieval times to reduce stress. I poured the bath salts in, about half a cup and watched with child like glee as my bath turned bright blue. And that’s when the scent hit me, this beautiful herbal scent that smells like fresh herbs and garden flowers. It’s hard to describe but it just smells so fresh and therapeutic. I filled my bath up with pretty hot water and sunk in, and it just felt so good. I’m not sure if it was a placebo effect or it really is that effective, but I felt like falling asleep there and then. I have never had a reaction like that before and believe me I cannot wait to have another Kneipp bath tonight and get the same effect.

I really do want to try more from the Kneipp range (mostly colourful salts more than anything). I also have some bath oil/treatments which I need to get round to using. I thought, and please forgive me for this Kneipp, that bath salts were out dated and for the more mature market but I was so wrong. I’ve had such pleasant results from my first experience that I can’t wait to try more. You can see more from the brand here. Okay I’m off now to have a super relaxing bath and fall asleep. Night night x

Mother’s Day with Elemis

Morning! With Mother’s day fast approaching, I thought I would do a post dedicated to a gift idea from one of my favourite companies, Elemis. It is a short and sweet post today, but hopefully it will give you some ideas on what to get the special lady in your life. For Mother’s Day, I sometimes end up getting a few pampering products for my Mum and.. kitchen appliances. I know, I know, that sounds really bad but I promise it is actually genuinely what she wants! Mum loves cooking, and any gadgets and crockery always keep her happy.

Elemis Jasmine & Rose Milk Bath

Elemis Jasmine & Rose Milk Bath

I think it has become the norm to buy flowers on Mother’s day, the bumped up price for bouquets around 30th March is testament to that! However, for a scent more beneficial and longer lasting I would highly recommend getting a bath product instead. You might already know about Elemis Jasmine & Rose Milk Bath, before it’s release I raved about it (here) and ever since I have loved using it in long, steaming baths especially throughout the colder season. I absolutely love the scent of this Bath Milk, a cross between two of my favourite floral scents and it is really moisturising product too as it is rich in Argan oil, Vitamin E and Camellia Seed Oil. Elemis have now made this product an addition to their permanent line and you can pick it up here for £42.00. I think this coupled with a candle would make the perfect Mother’s Day duo.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Treats

The next product is a little set, aimed at making the skin look more plump and protect the skin against signs of ageing. This is the Elemis Pro Collagen Treats set, and it contains a product I use pretty much every single day. The first product is the Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm, my favourite cleanser of all time. It is so good to the skin, so good at removing makeup and I also use it as a moisturising mask some days. I’ve talked about it so many times on here but if your looking for an in depth review then read it here. Also in the set is the Elemis Pro Collagen Advanced Eye Treatment, which helps smooth and firm skin around the eye and also targets fine lines and wrinkles. It is a liquid product so for those who dislike heavy greasy eye creams, this is the perfect answer. I haven’t actually trialled this product out yet, but I think I may make my Mum give me her opinions on it. It is also housed in a sturdy well made box (most free boxes aren’t!), which you can later use to store jewellery or knick knacks in. Knowing my Mum, she’ll use it for sewing bits and pieces. The balm by itself usually costs around £40 but you can pick up the whole set here for £49, saving almost £30. Bargain!

I did promise a short and sweet post today, not sure if I managed it as when I start talking about Elemis I tend to go on for ages and ages. I can’t decide what kitchen appliance to get this year, I might just get her a present when we go abroad as we MAY be jetting off a few days after Mother’s Day. I am absolutely dreading packing! Let me know if you have any gift ideas and also any blog posts you might like to see. Speak soon – Tanzina x

Pamper Bath Time Must Haves

I’ve been much more quieter on here than I would have liked however I’m trying not to pressure myself  too much when it comes to blogging as understandably, when you start a full time job, the balance between work and blogging takes a while to figure itself out. However fingers crossed I will fall into a routine and until then please don’t give up on me! Today I have a bath post for you, I adore long soaks and these are my current favourite products that accompany me to the bath tub.

The first area I concentrate on is my face. For some reason I feel like if my face isn’t fully cleansed my bath isn’t complete, I know it’s weird but it is what works for me. As it is the colder season I like to use a moisturising cleanser and I think my favourite cleanser of 2013 is definitely the Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm. I love this, I’ve talked about it loads here and you can find a review here. After I have cleansed, I use a mud mask.. somehow if it isn’t a mud mask it isn’t worthy of being included in my pamper bath. It’s not satisfying if it doesn’t tighten and become solid against my skin! My mask of choice is this gorgeous jar of Spa Find Stabilizing Mud Mask – you can get hold of it here.

yankee midnight jasmine bath

bodhi jasmine falls bath

These next two products are essential to a good luxury bath experience, and that is a candle and bubble bath. My current favourite candle is a Yankee one, and it is the Yankee Midnight Jasmine one which burns away next to my bath surrounded my tea lights. This has a great scent throw and I love the scent of Jasmine… which leads nicely on to my next product. This is the Bodhi Jasmine Falls Bath & Shower Therapy and I just love it. It is the truest representation to the jasmine scent that I have found in the beauty market and just a drop envelops my bath room with its fragrance. I raved about it in detail here if you want to know more reasons why I love it.

macadamia hair masque

Elemis Frangipani Monoi Shower Cream

The final two products are all about making my body feel and smell gorgeous. I don’t really use my pamper baths as a way of rigorously cleansing my body, I probably done that already as part of my morning shower however I do like to treat myself to some special products. I like to let my hair experience the best hair product ever which comes in the form of Macadamia Oil Deep Repair Masque which is just amazing for my hair. I get silky, beautiful smelling hair after using this and it really is a ‘treat’ product for me as I don’t want my hair getting too used to this. Next I like to use a shower cream to gently scrub my skin clean, I like cream products in the colder season as opposed to gel as it is less drying. Currently I am using Elemis Frangipani Monoi Shower Cream which smells delicious and leaves my skin soft. Pick it up here.

That is it for my post, I didn’t want to go too in depth but just point out what my favourites are. I probably have gone in depth with these products in other posts, hence why they are in my favourites! I’d love to know what you love in the bath, leave me a comment or say something on twitter (I’m @makeupatoz). Please do bear with me while I find my new blogging routine and look out for ANOTHER giveaway coming soon. Thank you sooo much for all the new readers too and of course to the old for always being there. Tanzina x

Bodhi Jasmine Falls

For the umpteenth time, and definitely not the last time, Jasmine is one of my all time  favourite scents. You tell me a perfume/cream/soap/oil (you get the idea) has Jasmine notes in it and automatically my interest is piqued. I want it, it really is that simple. However that rash decision has led to many products disappointing me, synthetic Jasmine notes waft out and completely sully the scent for me. Well when Bodhi’s Jasmine Falls set landed on my desk I was intrigued to see if it rises to my expectations or falls flat.

Bodhi Jasmine Falls

I’ve written about Bodhi before, you can find the post here, and they really are a pretty special brand. The Botanical Therapies range which this duo belong to are free from potentially harmful parabens, sulphates and petrochemicals. They really value the importance of quality and quantity – most‘natural’ products on the market today contain 0.5-1% of essential oils, but Botanical Therapies is formulated with more than twice this average. With all that in mind I was really looking forward to testing out Jasmine Falls Relaxing Bath & Shower Therapy and the Body Moisturiser.

bodhi jasmine falls therapy

When I opened up Jasmine Falls Relaxing Bath & Shower Therapy, I was automatically enveloped in such an authentic scent of Jasmine that I was pretty darn sure I was going to end up liking this product. I just had my fingers crossed that the scent would linger on the skin and not just disappear in the water like most bath products do.  After running some under the tap, my bath definitely bubbled up so that was a tick from me and the most satisfying thing was the scent did not disappear! Even after I emptied half the tub and filled it up again, the scent remained strong. This is what Bodhi have to say about the product: ‘This potent brew of Jasmine Absolute, Lavender and Red Mandarin helps to de-stress, soothe the mind and promote a sense of well-being, perfect for relaxing and unwinding. Skin is deeply cleansed and regenerated, leaving it soothed, balanced and relaxed.’ I didn’t even realise there was lavender in it, I usually dislike the scent of lavender but I know it helps relax me. No wonder I had a deep sleep after using this!

bodhi jasmine falls moisturiser

Now I’m not a fan of body moisturisers, I like them but I can never be bothered to deal with the hassle of applying them. At a recent press event I had my body moisture level tested by an expert and he told me that my skin was fine so a body moisturiser isn’t an essential part of my life. However every now and then I do like to pamper myself and incorporate a nice moisturiser into my pamper routine. I decided to use the Jasmine Falls Relaxing Body Moisturiser as a way to enhance the scent of the Bath Therapy and again I was enveloped in that gorgeous scent of Jasmine. But not only that, I really liked the product too – the consistency was light and really easy to massage in and it didn’t leave me feeling sticky. I’m not yet a body moisturiser convert however I do use this at every single pamper session I have. I’m going to have to purchase the big size version of this so I don’t run out – me buying a body moisturiser? Didn’t think I would see that day come!

When I was inquiring about the Bath & Shower therapies, a little birdie told me that the scent lingers in the bathroom hours after using the product. I sort of though hmm maybe that is a slight exaggeration however I was pleased to find out my source was right. A couple of hours later my Mum walked into my room asking what I used in the bathroom as it smelt really nice! I am so impressed with the product and even though Bodhi are a high end brand, this is so affordable. I think it would make the perfect gift for someone or even yourself as this gift set retails at £25 here with free delivery too! I definitely want to try out another scent from the Bath & Shower Therapy range.

You can explore the range here to find a scent suited to you, as you probably have guessed Jasmine Falls comes highly recommended. I’m guessing Bodhi will have some great Christmas releases so I shall bring you the scoop on that soon too.

I hope you enjoyed t0day’s post, do let me know what you would like to see more of and until next time have a great day! Tanzina x
