I’ve been wearing a particular Essie polish for what feels like the longest time, and I realised I am yet to do a review on it. It’s shade that I have gotten a lot of compliments on, and did I mention I was wearing it for absolutely ages? So recently, Essie launched their Gel Couture collection, it’s a 2 step nail polish system that has up to 14 days wear and hi shine finish. The best thing about it is that you don’t have to cure it with a UV lamp either! I thought it was only fitting that I did an Essie Gel Couture review for you all and show off the shade I’ve been wearing a lot.
So the shade that I picked out was a beautiful neutral peach shade called Sew Me. I just fell into such a deep infatuation with it as I knew it would very easily become my ‘every day’ colour, which was exactly the kind of shade I was after if I was going to have the same colour on my nails for a long time! It’s a gorgeous pastel peachy colour that really looks well against my tan skin tone. The problem with nudes and tanned skin tones like mine, is that sometimes they can look too pale and a little unflattering however this has just the right tone of peach in it to combat that and make it look uber-flattering.
So the way it works is that you apply the colour coat and use the special formula top coat on top. Straight away I noticed the hi shine, but I will be honest with you guys, I was a little sceptical with the long lasting promise. I’ve used gel nail polishes that you cure with the UV lamp and I just didn’t understand how this could last any longer than the normal nail polishes. Clearly there is some magic in this formula that my brain couldn’t comprehend, as it truly did last two weeks for me! I probably could’ve made it last longer but I like change so decided to take it off. There was very minimal wear and tear around the edges, but overall it had really lasted well. Shall I tell you my favourite part? You don’t need to soak your nails in polish remover for years to get this off, it comes off as easily as normal polish!
I am so impressed with this formula, as you can tell this Essie Gel Couture review is turning into a glowing one, purely due to the fact that this newbie passed all my expectations. I need to pick up more colours, I’m thinking like a hot pink or something bright to brighten up my day. These retails for £9.99 each, although currently there is an offer at Boots for any two Essie products for £15!
I hope you liked my Essie Gel Couture review, there isn’t much to add other than the fact that i think this is a genius formula from Essie and I need more shades! I also like the price point, it isn’t ridiculously expensive and when on offer each bottle works out to be around £7.50 – which is what I’d pay for for a normal bottle of polish!
