If you’ve read this blog long enough, you’d know I am drawn to lip products the way a magpie is drawn to shiny things. It came as no surprise that I was itching to get my hands on the newly released Too Faced Melted Chocolate Liquified Lipsticks, just the whole concept was literally mouth watering. I love the Too Faced Melted collection, I spoken about my favourite red shade here, and the Melted Metallics here. Today I thought I’d pen a Too Faced Melted Chocolate Lipstick review as I managed to get my paws on two of these beauties and I had to share them with you all.
Let me just do a really brief summary on the Melted Chocolate collection. The Melted lipsticks proved to be so popular, that Too Faced have now added created a cocoa powder infused version for all the chocolate lovers. There is a definite chocolate scent running through these lippies, no wonder I get hungry earlier every morning before work!
The first Melted Chocolate Liquified Long Wear Lipstick I have is in the shade Metallic Frozen Hot Chocolate. I would describe this as a rosy brown with golden shimmer running through it. It is quite a warm reddish shade and really easy to wear. As you can see from the swatch on my lips, this shade is semi opaque and it does have decent colour pay off on the lips. I think this is easily a slick on every day shade, where you don’t have to worry about perfect application. The lipstick isn’t sticky either, the formula is actually really comfortable to wear and I got about 3-4 hours wear out of it before needing to top up. As always, this product comes in a tube packaging with a really easy to use precision tip applicator. I really like this shade, mostly because it is so easy to wear. My go to lip style is matte, opaque lips and I am really going to try deviate away from that this year and wear this type of formula more often as it looks so pretty on the lips. You can pick this up here for £19.00
The second shade I managed to get hold of is actually my favourite, it is the Melted Chocolate Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Chocolate Milkshake. This is a cream finish liquified lipstick as opposed to the previous metallic finish. Cream finish are my absolute favourite as they are so opaque and the colour pay off is insane. Chocolate Milkshake is a creamy warm peach, and on my skin tone it translates very peachy. I love wearing this colour two ways, first I love applying it generously on my lips so I get a really full coverage finish (which you can see in the pictures). I also love wearing it by just dabbing it on lightly so I get the hint of colour and a natural peachy nude finish. I usually line my lip with a peach toned nude (such as MAC Spice) just to shape the lips and then dab on Chocolate Milkshake. I’ve been wearing this combination to work almost every day recently and I have been loving it. You can pick this up here for £19.00
I am genuinely loving these new shades, when I first got hold of them I was thinking that Frozen Hot Chocolate seemed a little too sheer for my liking and Chocolate Milkshake seemed a tad too bright and light for my skin tone but how wrong was I? I think they suit me so well and they are both so versatile. I think you can mix it with lots of different lip products, Frozen Hot Chocolate especially will add a bit of oomph to my matte lipsticks as a top coat. The collection has 6 lipsticks, and I need to get hold of Chocolate Cherries as it looks so good.
I hope you liked my Too Faced Melted Chocolate Lipstick review, please do let me know if you would like me to create makeup looks with these lipsticks and I will get that done for you. I’ve always opted for the Melted lipstick range from Too Faced and believe it or not, I have never tried any of their ‘normal’ lipsticks before. I have now finally got my hands on their
