Sleek Lip VIP Lipstick Review + Swatches

I had a peek at the Sleek Lip VIP Lipsticks just before Christmas last year, and ever since I have been so excited to get my hands on them and share them all with you. I love Sleek Makeup, I have mentioned them many times on here, I love the products and especially the price point. When I heard they were launching semi-matte lipsticks, my heart did a little dance in my rib cage because as you may already know, I love a matte finish! I thought I would do a quick Sleek Lip VIP lipstick review for you all today, just to share my initial thoughts on the collection and let you know if they lived up to my expectations.

Sleek Makeup launched six shades for the new collection, and as you can see from above they are all very wearable colours. The packaging is perfect, you can see what the shade is from the base of the lipstick so no need to open each lipstick up and check the bullet. I straight away gravitated to the red, as I am a huge fan of the bold red lip, which Night Spot really delivered. Let’s talk shades and swatches.

From Left to Right:

Night Spot – This is my stand out favourite, it is a gorgeous red shade with strong pink under tones running through it. I think it will be very flattering on many skin tones. It is described as a ‘chic red’ which is quite an accurate description.

Flaunt It – This is described as a ‘punchy orange’, and for me this is a definite summer shade. Automatically it got me craving the warmer weather, it is a really bright true orange shade

Backstage – I would say Backstage and the one next to it, Guest List, are very similar in colour. Backstage is a warm coral pink shade that is a tad bit lighter than Guest List, it will be very flattering with a tan. It leans slightly on the pinkier side of the coral spectrum

Guest List – Guest List is a bright true coral, it really brightens up the face and is a stand out coral shade rather than a muted one. I didn’t think coral shades suited me, but this is definitely growing on me. Again, looks really good with a tan

Reserved – This is said to be ‘a candy pink’ which I think describes it perfectly. It is a bubble gum pink and I think it is more suited to lighter skin tones than mine. It can easily be a very wearable every day shade on a lighter skin tone, especially if it is dabbed on.

Private Booth – This is described as a ‘classic nude’ and I think this shade will be flattering on a range of skin tones. It has a rose tint to it, which makes it a little more wearable for someone of my skin tone. I personally would pair it with a darker lip liner to create an ombre nude lip, and use this in the center.

I’ve been wearing these lipsticks for a few days now just to get a good feel before I report back. The consistency definitely leans more on the matte side, especially the red shade. However they are also really creamy, and you get a bit of a ‘slip’ to the lipstick when you put your lips together, which is really good as the lipstick doesn’t dry out your lips or highlight dry patches. The wear of this lipstick is about 4-5 hours, which is reduced if you eat something. Because the finish is creamy, the lipstick doesn’t cling to your lip like the Sleek Matte Me lip glosses would, but this is also a lot more comfortable to wear. I would recommend this for days where you can afford to top up your lipstick, whereas I would opt for the Matte Me for days when I wont be able to (such as at an event, wedding etc). Also, the pigmentation of these lipsticks are very rich, you aren’t getting shy pay off here, you are getting intense colour pay off.

As I have mentioned, I automatically gravitated to the red shade, Night Spot. Red is my favourite colour to wear on the lips, and the pink under tones are very flattering for me. However, I was really surprised when I swatched Guest List on my lips, I usually run away from coral shades but I loved this one! It somehow really works on me, maybe I was wrong about coral shades all along.

Overall, I am so excited to have these lipsticks in my life, I am so sure you will see them popping up in makeup looks sometime soon. I hope you liked my Sleek Lip VIP Lipstick review, and let me know what colour you’d like me to use in a look. Tanzina x
