With Christmas and New Years quickly approaching, glitter is very popular on the beauty menu. Christmas is days away and I am back in that state of shock I felt at the end of 2014, knowing that another year is over and I am another year wiser (hopefully!). Today I thought I would share with you my Sleek Glitter Me Lip Gloss review as I’ve been using these lip glosses for quite a while now so I have had enough time to form a good opinion on them. Glitter can be quite pesky, with glitter eyes and nails involving a lot of effort however these lip glosses are an easy way of adding sparkle without the fuss.
The formula of these lip glosses is quite pigmented, I expected it to be really sheer with the slightest hint of colour but I was pleasantly surprised. You also great quite a large helping of sparkles with every swipe, but it doesn’t feel rough on your lips at all. The thing I hate about lip gloss is the tacky sticky feeling it leaves, it usually is like a magnet to my hair and it is only a matter of minutes before my gloss is smeared across my face thanks to my hair. However, this formula is actually not sticky at all and instead is quite light on the lips. It comes with a traditional doe foot applicator meaning it is very easy to glide on. I definitely prefer doe foot over the plastic or brush applicators.
Sleek Glitter Me’s come in 3 colours, Private Jet, Uptown Girl, and Money Talks. I will briefly talk you through the three shades, starting with the gorgeous red – Private Jet. This is a lovely candy red, with subtle pink undertones. The balance of this red is just right, it suits both warm and cool skin tones. I love that the sparkles in this gloss are actually red and pink toned, so it doesn’t distract from the colour itself. I think if you were going for a subtle red lip, one slick of this on bare lips would suffice but you could amp up the colour with a red lip stick/lip pencil underneath like I did with MAC Ruby Woo. You can pick this shade up here for £4.99.
Next we have a bright pink in the shade Uptown Girl. Again just like the red, there is a good shot of colour in this shade too and the pink is very prominent. I would say the sparkles in this shade are more silvery pink this time. It translates a bit more of a sheer pink on the lips meaning you don’t get the vivid pink you see on the tube. However that is easily fixed by applying it on top of a hot pink shade, I’ve applied it over MAC Flat Out Fabulous. I really like this shade, it is very girly and flirty and is the perfect party pink lip look. You can pick it up here for £4.99.
Last but not least, we have a gorgeous gold shade which I think MAY just be my favourite. This is the sheerest shade of the lot, but even by itself there is a definite gold element to it. This is Sleek Glitter Me in Money Talks, and I love how the name suits the shade too. This is a gold shade, with a shot of gold glitter running through it and it looks very flattering and subtle on the lips. I think this is the perfect lip gloss to wear on top on any shade, as I can’t see it clashing with any lip look. I’ve worn it both by itself as well as over MAC Velvet Teddy and I would say I love both. This too retails here for £4.99.
I love how affordable these are, and just how pretty they are on the lips too. If you wanted to add a shot of glitter these are the perfect beauty solution and I would definitely recommend picking a shade up. I feel like they would look really good layered with different lipsticks as well, especially Money Talks, the golden one. I hope you liked my Sleek Glitter Me Lip Gloss review, I really hope Sleek bring out more of these Glitter Me lipglosses. I think I’d like to see a purpley pink one next! Speak soon, Tanzina x
