Sleek Makeup Look : Bronze and Green

I’ve used Sleek makeup since I was about 16, if not younger. Ever since Sleek first popped up in my local Superdrug’s, when eye shadow palettes were £5 and not the £7.99 they are today. I used to collect all the palettes like they were Pokémon’s and used to feel heartbroken when I missed a limited edition palette (Carnival palette I am talking about you!). I’ve noticed as of late I have started straying away from the high street brands I loved so much and started using more mid end brands such as MAC, Urban Decay and Anastasia Beverly Hills. I thought to combat that today I would create a Sleek makeup look, using a few favourites from the brand as it definitely is a brand that deserves a lot of attention.

I used the very versatile Sleek Storm palette for my makeup look, this was actually the second Sleek palette I picked up oh so long ago so it was really nice to see it again (Sleek Original palette was my first). The look I decided to go for was a smokey bronze look with a pop of green to incorporate colour back into the look as Sleek definitely rocks the colour front. I wanted to keep the rest of the face quite nude to emphasis the eye. I also wanted the face to look glowy as I am loving the glowy look at the moment.

I filled in my brows using the Dipbrow and then applied UDPP in Eden all over the lid. I highlighted under the brow with MAC Brule and then moved onto the palette. I used the light brown (Calm before the Storm) and dark brown (Eye of the Storm) matte shades in the crease and the outer V and blended the shadows a lot. Next I applied the shimmery bronze brown (Dust Storm) shade all over the lid space. To smoke it up a little bit more I added a dab of the black (Blackout) shadow to the crease and kept blending. Along the lash line I applied Sleek pencil in Tonic and smudged that out using the pencil shadow brush and the dark green shadow (Storm Cloud). For the inner highlight, to open the eye up a bit I added the light champagne shade (Snow Storm) on top of the green. Next I added liquid liner and went over it with Blackout to soften the liner a little bit as I didn’t want there to be a strong line. Finally I added black pencil liner to the waterline, mascara and lashes, and the eye look was done.

I really liked using the Storm palette again, the shadows blended better than I remembered and there wasn’t much fall out. My only gripe is that I wish it had a matte highlight shade, as I always need one, but that might be a personal taste aspect. I loved how creamy the Eau La La liners are, I’ve never really used these before and I can see I have been missing out. I really need to try the black one once my current black liner runs out to test it out on a daily basis.

I started off with a really light application of Illamasqua Skin Base mixed with a bit of bareSkin. You guys must be tired of hearing this, but for new readers, I have to mix the two as my skin tone is so yellow one foundation shade is never enough for me. Next I applied Anastasia concealer under the eyes, making sure to create a sharp diagonal line under the outer eyeshadow to create a cat eye finish. I then applied my contour using the light contour shade (from the contour kit) in the hollows of my cheeks. I applied the cream highlight in Royal Gold from the highlighter palette along the top of my cheek bones and the apple of my cheeks. I also ran a little bit down the bridge of my nose and on my cupids bow. I finished the face off my applying the cream blush and dusting the top of my cheek bones slightly with the highlight shade from the contour kit.

The two stand out products for me here are is the Face Contour Kit and the Highlighter Palette. I love the Sleek Contour Kit, I’ve been using it every day for the past month and I love how easily it is to blend and how the colour isn’t too strong. It is a product I have used for quite a few years and I love coming back to it. I also loved being introduced to the cream highlight palette, I didn’t even know Sleek do this! It is perfect for achieving that super glowy look that has been made popular by the strobing trend.

Lip Makeup Product Used:

The lips were very simple, I lined my lips with MAC Spice and then filled in using the Sleek Matte Me in Birthday Suit. I love the Sleek Matte Me, I’ve already got a red one (Rioja Red) but I love this one even more. The shade is a gorgeous nude rose shade, that really compliments my warm skin tone. I am not a fan of the plastic applicator so I use a brush with it, or sometimes I apply it with the applicator on to the lips and then blend it out with my fingertips. You get a really matte finish that initially feels a bit weird on the lip as it is dry but I got used to the feeling really quickly. I was worried that the wear time would be really less, but it wasn’t it lasted for around 5 hours for me before it needed topping up. Definitely a good find, and it is so cheap at £4.99 (here).

I really like how this look turned out, and how the products have reignited my love of high street products. I really hope you liked my Sleek makeup look as this was one I was excited about. I feel like creating a really dark smokey eye next with this palette, and really vamping up my look. Let me know if you would like to see that. If there is any products here that you would like a closer look at, let me know and I will do a review on them. Speak soon, Tanzina x
