My Longleat Safari Park Trip

Hi loves, a couple of weekends ago I visited Longleat Safari Park with my family, and I snapped a few pictures on my new camera (the SONY A5100 which I spoke about here). I promised you I would share them with you so today is going to be that day. This is definitely not a beauty post, but sometimes I like reading/seeing bits of other people’s lives so if you are that kind of person too, I hope you enjoy this post.

I’ve been meaning to go to Longleat Safari Park for quite some time, I think I saw it on someone’s YouTube vlog and decided it was the perfect location to take my family. I live about 3 hours away from Longleat so I had to plan in advance if I wanted to take everyone along. When we arrived, we sat down and had a little picnic as the grounds were perfect for a little sit down. I would highly recommend grabbing a picnic basket and blanket if you are heading out there.

I love interacting with animals when I get the chance and in zoos and safaris I feel like the situation is controlled and I don’t get scared. Normally I am the type to scream and run when I spy a spider or bug in my room, whereas here I was happily holding a tarantula. I was flicking through these pictures with my best friend, who saw a picture of my sister holding a tarantula and said ‘you’d never be able to do that’. I didn’t reply and moved on to the next picture where I was actually holding it, the shock and confusion on his face was laugable as I usually scream the house down when I see creepy crawlies.

I had two stand out favourite moments at the park, and they were the monkeys and the deer’s. We did something a little naughty with the monkeys, before we drove in we put cashew nuts on our roof so the minute we drove into their enclosure they came bounding over and scrambled on top of our car. My little brother was absolutely petrified (he’s 11) so that made the whole experience even more hilarious. I managed to snap some pictures of him hiding in his hoodie but I don’t think he would appreciate me sharing them with you all!

Now the deer’s. I absolutely fell in love with this beautiful deer who was so friendly and so sweet, I just wanted to take him home and kept demanding my dad to buy me a deer. There is a section where you can feed deer’s from your car where the deer’s come and eat special deer food from your hands. However all the deer’s were selfish and would just eat and leave and none of them let me touch them properly until MY deer came along. He was just… different. He stayed with me for ages, let me scratch his head, touch his horns, his face, I really felt like we had a connection! I was so sad to leave him behind when we left. Sigh, now all I have left are these pictures I snapped on my phone.

The whole experience was pretty special, I’ve been to Woburn Safari when I was younger and I feel this park was much better. There are so many different experiences such as the Bat Cave where bats fly all around you, and the Mirror Maze where my mum bumped her head on a mirror and we all fell about laughing (she didn’t hurt herself, we’re not that cruel). I didn’t want to bore you all with billions of photos though I did take lots of snaps. How cute are these baby zebras?! I need to tell my dad I want one of these as well.

That’s me above with my new boyfriend, we’re going to attempt a long distance relationship. Kidding aside, I had such a lovely time at the park, it is perfect for friends and family and I definitely want to go again sometime in the near future. I hope you enjoyed reading about my Longleat Safari Park trip, if you did let me know and I will share some more personal posts with you all. If you do go Longleat and you travel out like I did, I would recommend you stay the night there and go visit Bath the next day. We went to the Roman Baths the next day, and that itself was another amazing experience. Let me know if you do go, tweet me @makeupatoz. Speak soon, Tanzina x

    • Hi Emily :) Aww thank you, I really appreciate that especially considering how lovely your blog is. Oh wow I would LOVE to work in a zoo! Which zoo are you at? I live near Whipsnade so if I wanted a change in career at least that is near by
