Hi loves, some of you might already know from my fitness post that I am really trying to get into shape and do something about the weight I have put on this year. I started the year off really badly, and my fitness and health levels really suck at the moment. As my fitness post proved to be popular so I thought I would share a few more ideas and also document the things I am doing to make a difference to my body. I have recently started drinking more water at home, something I previously struggled with, so I thought I would also do an Aquatiser review as well as that has really helped me.
Let’s start off with food, I am really good at cooking healthy food, I pretty much know what I am doing and can find ways to trim the fat and carbs off my meals. However sticking to a healthy eating plan is a battle for me, as I normally eat healthy one day and gorge on KFC the next to ‘make up for it’. I am realising that mentality isn’t working for me as all it is resulting is me maintaining the weight I have gained, I am not gaining any more but I am not losing anything either. Seeing the scales and tape measure stay the same is really demotivating especially when are making the effort to get healthier, so to combat that I am attempting to only eat bad once a week rather than every other day. Baby steps will get me to my perfect body!
I am now eating breakfast pretty much every single day, whereas up until two weeks ago I was having it maybe once a week. Breakfast is such a key meal, as it provides you the fuel for the rest of the day and helps in stopping snacking. Like many people I know this fact and have heard it over and over again but I have always failed to stick at it. However after eating breakfast regularly over the past two weeks I do think I have more energy at work and less snacking tendencies. I don’t even have the urge for a huge lunch which is a plus! I have recently been enjoying Jordan Tropical Fruits Crunchy Oats Granola with fruits and fat free Greek yoghurt. However this has got quite a lot of sugar in it, so if I am having this in the morning I try to make sure I don’t have much sugar during the day. I’d rather go heavy with calories early on in the day than later, as I have more time to burn off the calories. I also always have a cup of green/white tea every morning just to aid my digestion.
For lunch and especially dinner I am really trying not to eat as much carbs as I don’t have much time left to burn them off. I still incorporate carbs into my meal but I am wary about the amount. Bear in mind I am not perfect and I slip up very regularly but I am trying to get in control of that. Recently I have really been enjoying fish such as tuna and salmon however my favourite dish is actually a vegetarian one. I am loving black beans simmered with spices, with rice and guacamole. I got this recipe idea off Leanne from DoNotRefreeze and have tweaked and replicated it so many times. The beans are rich in fibre so it really does help aid digestion and the food is so yummy it doesn’t even feel healthy! I might do a recipe post when I get time to take snaps of my cooking. I’ve also really been enjoying a combination of salmon, asparagus and rice – although I could make that dinner healthier by substituting the rice for quinoa or sweet potato.
Now onto the water, I am so good at drinking water at the office, I fill up my BKR bottle in the morning and I take sips regularly throughout the day. However once I come home, I seem to forget and filling up glasses of water gets really boring. I really liked the thought of fruit/citrus infused water, but I never really tried it as I don’t fancy swallowing a soggy strawberry every time I go for a sip. I’ve been seeing the Aquatiser pop up over social media recently and it really caught my attention as the water travels through the fruit/citrus but bits of the fruit never reach your mouth. So it seemed like you get the flavour but you don’t get those unwanted bits. I also have a thing for glass bottles, they look better, feel more luxurious and are better for the environment. I’ve been loving putting strawberries and peaches into my water, it actually makes such a difference which I wasn’t expecting. I expected only slight change of taste but with the Aquatiser I can definitely taste the fruits, I think that might be something to do with the Aquatiser juicer in the bottom section of that bottle.
There is also a sports version of the Aquatiser with a plastic bottle, but I personally love the glass aspect of the design. There are so many fruit infusers out there on the market nowadays but I definitely think this is the most luxe and sophisticated design. I love that there is a juicer incorporated into the design, and from what I have seen there is nothing like that on the market. You can pick it up here for £19.99. My next recipe will be mint leaves and lemon as I think that would make a really good combination.
I hope you enjoyed having a little peak into my food diary and things I have been enjoying eating, getting fit is such a personal journey and if I am honest I am a little frustrated that I can’t see an immediate change in my body but I think patience and perseverance will pay off eventually. Please let me know if you have any good tips, recipes and fitness techniques that are helping you as I would love to know! Tanzina x
