When I visited UMAE, I gravitated towards House of Glamdolls GlamBase Wheel at the Love Makeup stand. I even had the brand founder, David Horne, trial it on me! As I mentioned in my UMAE haul, the wheel found its way home with as I knew I just had to buy it. Today I wanted to share with you my House of Glamdolls GlamBase Wheel review and show a few pictures along the way.
This is how the brand describes the product:
‘The GlamBase Wheel is a mixing revolution for complexion enhancement. The wheel contains 6 shades that have been blended for easy complexion perfection every time.’
I have been using this pretty much every day I wear makeup since I picked it up, so all in all I have had about a months’ worth of regular use to form my opinion. I use it as a cream contour and highlight and on most days I don’t go over with powder at all as I feel this product alone creates the emphasis I need. I love the consistency of this wheel, the product is a cream but not too creamy so it doesn’t slip halfway through the day. The texture is slightly dry which I like, as then I can use my fingers to warm up the product and deposit it on my skin better.
How I used it:
I apply the contour shade (Sculpt 2) with my fingers for precision and also I find that my natural body heat makes the product apply and blend better. I then use a brush to blend it. I use the olive toned concealer shade (Perfect 1) under my eyes and along the top of my cheekbone to highlight and some days I use the light neutral toned concealer (Illuminate) under my brow bones. In the center of the palette/wheel there is a highlighter cream (Glow), which is actually very creamy and easy to use. I dap it on the tops of my cheeks with my fingers and blend it again with a brush. Usually I only wear a tiny amount of contour/highlight just because I like the no effort look but when I want to use more product and create emphasis, I do use a primer underneath as my skin is dry so sometimes it is hard to blend products in seamlessly.
My favourite section:
My favourite part of the wheel is definitely the Sculpt 2, it is the perfect shade of contour for me, and it blends beautifully and matches my skin really well. I love how it looks like a natural shadow on my skin, just how contouring should look like! I have used quite a few dark contour creams before and although I may do that again for dramatic looks, I never will again for normal days. David, please can you come out with a single of this PLEASE? Although that being said, you need such a tiny amount that this will probably last me years. I also really like the Glow highlight in the centre, it is perfect for dewy highlighted cheeks.
Before and After
As you can probably tell, my GlamBase Wheel review is a pretty glowing review. (‘Glowing’, get it?!). I am so glad I picked this up for me and my friend, I for one am definitely getting a good use out of it and it is my most used product from my UMAE haul. If I could change anything I would just have two Sculpt 2 shades rather than having Scult 1 as it is too ashy for my skin tone but it will probably come in handy for when I do my friends makeup looks. I absolutely love this palette and definitely recommend it.
