Hi loves, would you believe me if I told you I was writing this at 4.30AM in the morning? I know, craziness, but due to an unwarranted nap at 8pm I am unable to fall asleep. After tossing and turning for literally hours I have decided to use my time wisely and write a blog post for you all. Today’s look really is a daring one, definitely not an every day makeup look however I hope you like taking a look at it regardless and maybe it might get your creative juices churning.
I don’t really know what to call this look, I’m tempted to call it Maleficent as the green and purple do make the Disney super-baddy spring to mind. However lets just call it green drama for the sake of being boring and unoriginal. When I created this look I just had two things in mind, green glitter and purple lipstick. The combination of both came together and created this look. Now let’s get on to the products I used. A lot of the eye makeup products consist of Motives cosmetics, an US brand that is available to purchase here. The rest of the products are pretty easy to get hold of but always remember, it doesn’t have to be the exact products – something similar does the job just as well.
- Motives Pressed Eyeshadows in : Vino, Cappuccino, Vanilla and Green Apple
- Motives Glitter Pot in Karma (the light green glitter)
- 2True Liquid Eyeliner
- Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pencil in Black
- BareMineral Lash Domination Mascara
- Eldora False Lashes in H124 (find here)
- Anastasia Dipbrow in Chocolate and Blonde – to be released on Cult Beauty early next year
- Motives Cream Foundation quad in Medium
- Daniel Sandler Slim Effect Contour Powder (review here)
- Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Nectar
- Illamasqua ESP lipstick
Now lets get on to the eye makeup method. The first thing I did was create a cut crease using Vino (a deep brown with hint of purple) which I then blended with Cappuccino (a light brown, similar to MAC Wedge but warmer). Next I highlighted under the brow and the inner eye corner using Vanilla (a matte cream). After that using Green Apple, I filled in the lid so create a base for the glitter and went on to add the Karma glitter all over the lid making sure not to stray over the crease line. I also extended the glitter under the outer V to create a glitter wing to my look. Now using 2True Liquid Eyeliner I created a winged eyeliner making sure not to go over the glitter flick in the outer corner. I also created an inner flick on the bottom lash and added a bit of glitter inside it. Next using Pixi Endless Silky Pencil, I filled in the waterline. I love how black this pencil leaves my waterline. Finally using Lash Domination I added mascara and then the Eldora lashes in H124.
I usually do my brows first but instead I decided to do them after the eye makeup as I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do with them. I ended up opting for lighter brows than normal, I used a combination of Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipdown in Chocolate and Blonde. I’m loving using Dipdown, it’s such a create creamy products designed for the brows with amazing staying power. I’ll try and do a review for you all soon. Now on to the face and lip makeup!
The first thing I did with my face was conceal and highlight under the eye. That beauty routine, I am ashamed to admit, has become a habit for me and I feel like I always have to do that as I am so used to it. I used the Motives Cream Quad in Medium and I also used that for contouring and foundation as it comes with 4 different shades. Next I further contoured with Daniel Sandler Slim Effect Contour Powder and added blush and highlight using Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Nectar. Then finally I finished off the look using a newly acquired lipstick – Illamasqua ESP. A beautiful bold purple lipstick.
That is it for today’s post! I hope you like this post, and the makeup look and also if you have makeup looks that you would like me to create just let me know. I think as this goes live it will be Christmas Eve right? So Merry Christmas for all of you celebrating it, I will be in charge of Xmas dinner so keep your fingers crossed that everything goes right as I have never cooked Turkey before!
