With the cold setting in to the UK and getting very comfortable, the word ‘moisturising’ is very important in the Makeup A to Z world. If I pick up a product and it has the word ‘moisturising’ written on, it pretty much is guaranteed to find itself into my basket. Now I have a little collection of lipsticks that have been ticking all boxes and thought I should share them with you all. Do not blame me if they find their way into your basket. Okay fine, only if it makes you feel better!
The lipsticks I have for you today are the Avon Ultra Colour Lipsticks, a range which has 30 colour options for you to choose from. I have five to show you today but before I get into the swatches bit I thought I’d explain a little more about the lipsticks themselves. The lipsticks are very moisturising, they have like a soft balm like feeling to them so after I’ve applied the lipstick I get the same feeling I do after I’ve applied Carmex, or some other lip balm – you know what I mean right? But the clever thing about these lipsticks is that they don’t compromise on colour payoff either because I’ve come across a lot of balm like lipsticks that also provide a balm like wash of colour; that is not what I was after.
There is a special pigmentation formula in these lipsticks, maybe that is why colour isn’t compromised, ‘using True Colour technology the colour stays true with self-renewing pigments for vibrant lip colour… the technology leaves each pigment particle wrapped in shea butter to glide on smooth and reveal rich, ultra true colour’. I can’t pretend I understand all the scientific stuff, hey I’m an English graduate we don’t engage that part of our brain, but I can appreciate that the pigmentation is there. Some lipsticks provide a soft yet noticeable wash of colour and others provide the full whammy! So let’s get on to the colours I have in my stash.
The first colour I have is Sparkling Nude which is exactly that – a sparkling nude. It feels really comfortable despite the shimmer and is a soft yet noticeable wash of colour. I detect peach undertones in this nude.
This is Rose Quartz, a pretty frosty pink shade with a hint of lilac. Again it is a wash of colour however the pigmentation is there and again really comfortable on the lips. I never usually opt for frosty finishes but I kind of like this one.
I LOVE this shade. This is Avon’s Proper Pink and normally I wouldn’t even swatch a shade like this because I thought it really just isn’t me. It’s a gorgeous milky lavender pink, reminiscent of MAC’s Viva Glam Nicki 2, it’s very pastel and unique. But after trying it, it makes me think outside of my makeup box and conjures up looks I’d love to create with this shade. You can be sure to see this is a makeup look soon.
This is Hot Pink, a gorgeous blue toned pink with amazing colour pay off. This colour is very similar to MAC Girl About Town, I just swatched them side by side and was amazed at the likeness. Girl About Town is one of my favourite colours, I adore it and this is just as fabulous at a much better price.
Finally we have Hibiscus a vivid bright red/orange pink which is super eye catching and very flattering on a tan skintone like mine. I can see myself wearing more in the warmer seasons (please hurry up!).
I think my favourite is definitely Proper Pink, it’s just so different and unlike anything in my ridiculous lipstick collection. These lipsticks are so comfortable to wear, actually do keep your lips hydrated and last well on the lips too. I think out of all the new Avon colour launches, the lipsticks are what I am most impressed about. You can pick them up here for £7.50.
I hope you liked today’s post. Which colour did you like best? Have a great day lovelies and don’t forget to follow me on BlogLovin’ for more swatches and reviews!x
