Morning you! I’ve been promising to start introducing you to the changes in skin care & hair care that I’ve been making in the year 2013 and today I thought I would share with you the latest change. It’s quite a new discovery, I’ve implemented it into my skin care routine for the past few weeks and thoughts its time I share my thoughts on it as it definitely is a keeper.
If I had to choose one range to stick to for skin care, and I wasn’t allowed to mix it up, hand on heart I would choose Elemis. From their FreshSkin range to normal range I really find I get along really well with the products and 9/10
I’m never disappointed with the products. Their award winning Pro-Collagen Marine Cream celebrates its 10 year anniversary this year and as a treat the elves over at Elemis have been working hard for the past two years on balm to celebrate the anniversary with. With two years of development behind it they have launched Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm
It in a cleanser of sort, a soft oil and wax hybrid that breaks away make up and deep cleans your skin. It has a really soothing spa like scent to it, stemming from the many many blends of oils that are within it. Oils like geranium, lavender, chamomile, eucalyptus, ho wood, orange, menthol and clove.. You get the idea. Combined together rather than creating an over powering synthetic scent, it’s a very relaxing distinct scent that is perfect for soothing me before bed time.
So what are my thoughts on it? I use it most nights, especially on days I’ve been wearing makeup. I still use my Bioderma H2O solution to remove my eye makeup – I think I probably always will. After that I massage this product straight into my skin, massaging in upwards motion. The products melts away so quickly to the warmth of your skin and sinks in really well. You really need such a tiny amount. I find it removes all traces of makeup and the texture is almost silky on your skin, feels luxurious and easy to move around and massage with. Its not a waxy texture that doesn’t budge. It feels like I get a deep moisturising cleanse after using this. I remove it with the flannel provided and that seems to work really well.
Some days when I’m not wearing makeup I just apply this while I’m in bed relaxing reading books or blogs, and massage it slowly in upwards motions over my face and neck. It feels really pampering and therapeutic. They say you can leave it on as a mask for 10 minutes but really I just leave it on until I can be bothered to get out of bed. We’re talking 30 minutes plus here and it still leaves my skin feeling really soft and moisturised. What kind of skin is it suited to? It’s suited to all kinds of skin types, even oily to combination. My skin type is currently dry/normal it’s no longer severely dry although it does sometimes dip back into that when I stop looking after it! I find it really hydrating, I love the feel of it.
Overall I really adore this product, it really does feel great to use. I think it’s also really admirable how Elemis are sourcing all the ingredients like oils from the UK and supporting British agriculture. The balm also uses ingredients that help maintain the population of bees which are seriously under threat. It’s nice to hear that they’re giving back, it’s quite rare you hear that from a company. I’m loyal to skin care when it comes to moisturisers, eye cream, serums.. But I’m really promiscuous to cleansers and exfoliaters. I will probably use other cleansers like my FreshSkin Peachy Perfect Face Wash especially in the warmer seasons, but as cleansing balms go this one I’m sticking to!
The balm is out and ready to be picked up. It’s retailing for £39.50
and you can pick it up at any Elemis stockist. You can also pick it up at my trusty QVC site where it’s at an introductory price of £35.94
and there’s lots of reviews to read if you want to hear more people’s thoughts on the product. You can find all that here
I hope you enjoyed today’s post, I’ve really missed really going in depth with products and really having a look at what goes into it rather than just simply thinking do I like it or not. This to me is the perfect cleanser for late evening relaxing, and I type this up with it currently being used as a mask on my face! Have a great day lovelies!
