MakeupAtoZ: Face of the Day, Products Used & Price

Hi lovelies, today’s post is the first of its kind.. and even though I wasn’t fully satisfied with how it turned out I thought I’d just go ahead and publish it any way. It is a face of the day look featuring the products that I used and my untamed crazy hair!

Usually I don’t attend university with makeup or if I do it is very little makeup (as that gives me more sleeping time!) but simply for the sake of this post I decided to go ahead and put some makeup on. Of course I didn’t think about the fact that I will requite pictures of my face and hair, so didn’t have time to sort my just washed, frizzy unruly hair. I put a few waves into my hair and got my lovely friend to start snapping away (hence the slightly manic smiley pictures). The look I went for was neutral eyes, light pink lips and slightly contoured cheeks.

I attempted to tame my hair into a messy plait

I very rarely smile with teeth in pictures, as you can see my hair is out of control – I secretly love it!

So above are all the products I used to create the look. Oh gosh, it is slightly scary how much goes into creating a look! I think that in reality I would need much less but the fact that I have access to it all makes it want to put it all on. The problems of a beauty product junkie! I travel with about 1/4 of the products I used today on my face. Maybe doing these posts will be useful as I can actually get a good use out of my crazy collection of beauty products. Okay so on to face products, I don’t use foundation unless I’m going to a super special occasion like a wedding or something so there was no need for me to use it today. I like to use under eye concealer so the one I am using is Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Honey (£24.00). Across the top of my cheekbones, I like for it to be illuminated so I used YSL Touche Eclat in shade 2 (£25.00). To contour my cheekbones I used the Sleek Contour Kit in Light (£6.50). To match my lipstick, I added a bit of Benefit Hervana (£23.50) to my cheeks which is a lovely natural pinky purple.

So onto the eyes. Eye make up is definitely my favourite part of doing makeup but unfortunately I had to rush it as I was running out of time and my lecture was about to start. I used Urban Decay Primer Potion all over my lid (£14.50) and then Suspect from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette (£36.00) and then Snakebite and Blackout on the crease to smoke it slightly. I used Foxy as a highlight colour under my brow. For my brows I used the brow powder and wax from the Japonesque brow kit (£26.00) and the brow gel. For eyeliner I used MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack (£14.00) and for under eye liner I used Fluidline in Dipdown (£14.00) so it doesn’t look too heavy with all the black liner. For the waterline I used Avon Supershock eye liner in black (£6.00) and for mascara I used Blink +Go mascara (£12.50), of which I wasn’t too impressed.

And finally on to the lips. Funnily enough this bit was the bit I was looking most forward to as I really wanted to use these two new lip products I picked up. I’ve recently bought lots and lots of makeup (I am on a ban that should last into 2013 I hope!) and the beauty blogger in me won’t let me use it until I’ve featured it here. That is dedication I tell you! This is my first Bobbi Brown lipstick in 28 Pink Peony (£18.00) and I really love it. It’s super moisturising and goes on smoothly which I adore. I also picked up a MAC Pro Longwear lip pencil called In Anticipation (£14.00) which compliments the lipstick perfectly.

All together to create this look costs… oh wow I just did the calculations and I don’t think that I want to even tell you. It’s ridiculous, I really dread to think what my whole collection of makeup is worth. Just this costs £234, that’s crazy! I’m astounded at how ridiculous that sounds, is it just me thinking that? I think I better stick to this self imposed spending ban and not pick up any more goodies for quite some time.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I think I will do another one and hopefully next time I will look a lot better. I really wasn’t too impressed with how this one turned out but then I thought who cares, everyone has bad days and I like to think I’m quite confident and happy with myself and how I look so if I were not to post this I would let myself down. I hope you all have a lovely day! Tanzina x
