MakeupAtoz: Revlon Lip Butters

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters have been making beauty news for quite a while now, but only just recently headed over to the UK. It launched in the US quite some time ago and all of us beauty lovers have been drooling over them, waiting for them to arrive here. I put myself on a ban for the month of March when it came to buying make up and beauty related items, as I had been doing it excessively over the last few months. (I’ll try to a March haul post) BUT, of course the lip butters I had to give myself permission to buy some!

I thought I would initially start of with three, so I decided even before swatching the collection that I would go for a red, a pink and a nudey colour. After swatching, my decision still remained the same and I went for those colours. Boots had (and may still have) a 3 for 2 offer on Revlon, so it made my decision more easier knowing I was getting one free. They were priced at 7.99 each.

The first one I went for was this gorgeous red called Candy Apple. This red seems to have a hint of orange in it and I really do prefer this type of red over reds that have hints of blue in them simply as orangey ones suit me better. The colour is quite opaque and it really is moisturising. When I first heard of the concept of lip butters I thought, hey I can put my trusty carmex to rest! But really this isn’t an alternative to lip balms, instead I would say it’s a very moisturising version of a lipstick. Doesn’t mean I love it any less though!

The second one was this gorgeous bright pinky colour called Raspberry Pie. I love bright pinks and this colour is so richly pigmented and lasts quite some time. I can see this being a favourite of mine throughout summer.

The last, but not least, is this more muted colour called Pink Truffle. It’s not as pigmented and opaque as the other two however that is the reason I went for it. Even though I wouldn’t say this is my favourite of the three, I think this is the one I will get most use out of. I can see myself throwing this on when I’m not too bothered or in a rush. This colour feels more.. effortless compared to the other two colours if that makes any sense!

The Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters retail for £7.99 and come in 14 different colours:

I would say that my favourite colour would be Raspberry Pie simply because I love how vivid it is. I can already picture it with a few summer outfits that are just waiting to be worn. Overall I am really satisfied with the Lip Butters, which is good as I was worried that after all the hype I would be left feeling slightly disappointed. I think the only negative I have is that it doesn’t last hours and hours, but I guess it didn’t promise it would so I can’t really complain. My lips dry extremely quickly so the Lip Butters couldn’t have come at a better time.

For now I’m trying to go through all my lip balms and then start looking for new and better lip balms that actually make a difference. Do you know of any? And have you tried the lip butters or the L’Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipsticks? I think I may need to pick some up and do a comparison.

P.S I just want to apologise for the lack of posts recently, I’ve been having issues with my memory card reader but all is well now and I will try make it up to you with lots more posts!

  1. Great swatches! One thing that I found was that most of them contain shimmer/glitter which I’m not a big fan of =(
Pink truffle is definitely on my list as I love neutral ‘my lips but better’ shades =D

    • Yes Asmaa, Pink Truffle is so easy to apply as well, one of those lipsticks that you don’t need a mirror for. So handy! x

    • Ooh I was also tempted by Tutti Frutti! Off to read your blog lovely x
