MakeupAtoZ NOTD: The Sea

I thought I’d do a quick post on what I’m wearing on my nails currently. I’ve had this on my nails for a few days and it’s fair to say I absolutely love it. I chipped a few nails and instead of removing it and painting them differently, I redone them again in the same polish. Now for me, that is rare, so I thought I had to share it with you seeing I’m enjoying it so much!

I’ve been layering two colours together, and not worrying about perfection when applying the polishes, which I have to admit is a refreshing change. The colour I used as a base is by Bourjois and is called Bleu Model 44. It’s a lovely pastel tiffany-esque colour and looks lovely on its own also. I applied two coats of this polish first.

The next polish I used is actually really popular in the blogging sphere, its called Fantasy Fire and it’s a part of Maxfactor’s mini nail polish collection. Now that colour applies quite sheer and if you wanted to simply use this by itself, you’ll need quite a few layers. I however prefer it like that, as I find it makes for an amazing topcoat, and you can apply on top of lots of different bases to get lots of different results. It’s such a beauty, it’s a petrol type of polish and shows so many different colours at once. I can see greens, reds, blues and golds just looking at it now although describing it I would say the bottle looks like a purpley blue. I got it some time ago and have been playing around with it for quite a while.

I applied this over the Bourjois polish, and didn’t bother with making sure it was evenly distributed on the nail. This resulted in some parts of the nail having more Fantasy Fire than the others, and the Bourjois colour peeked through slightly too. This is the results:

I’m so happy with the results, I know this might not be everyone’s cup of tea but it definitely is mine. I stumbled across this design by accident actually, I was looking to use the Bourjois underneath to make Fantasy Fire pop a bit. The plan was to fully cover the Bourjois with FF but I’m much more pleased with this effect. I know that if I pop down to the seaside this year, these two polishes will be coming with me.

I just want to say a great big thank you to all of you reading, I really do appreciate your comments and support (especially you Natasha, you need to tweet me or email me!)

Posts might not be as often as they have been, as I am in my last month of University (I’m studying English BA) for this year and it really is time consuming. However, saying that I have so much to share with you all, so there WILL be posts, and I will try get to back to you as soon as possible. I have been trying out lots of different products and have lots of thoughts to spill, so you never know I might not be away too long! Exams finish late May, but I am hoping to blog at least once a week until then.
